Verk dark coloured beer. This has a light, smooth chocolate finish. It is quite delicate but moreish. Hints of fruit, too.

Cask at NWAF 2009. A very dark brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has strong notes of roasted malt as well as lighter notes of soy sauce. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of hard roasted malt as well as lighter notes of chocolate and soy sauce, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Black with no head. Some coffee and sugars in the scent with lots of alcohol present. Slightly carbonated, some bitterness and some dryness. That alcoholic stickiness in the mouth. Lots of roasted malts with a hint of sweet chocolate.

At the brewery, as always. Pitch pint with a tan head. Smoked malt snout with some earth and hop mustiness. Just a touch of sourness and brine. Big, rounded, cocoa-accented bitterness. Decent Porter nudging towards a Stout.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Harbury BF. A very dark coloured beer with a dry heavily roasty aroma with some burnt malt. The taste is also dry, roasty and burnt. An Ok porter but a little uninteresting.

Attractive dark, almost opaque colour. Quite prominent roasted malt in the aroma and flavour. Just a touch of chocolate. Finishes soft and smooth, with no sourness. More like a mild than a porter really, but eminently drinkable. Cask (gravity dispense) at Peterborough Beer Festival.
