Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 19/12/07. Dark reddish brown colour with a decent off-white head. Aroma of red fruit, some caramel and a hint of spice. Flavour was sweet with a decent dry finish. Enjoyable.

First tasted this in the Three Judges, Glasgow in December 2005. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper red in colour with a thin white head. Subtle hint of soft toffee in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malts give a digestive biscuit base with vanilla fudge notes, no sign of any fruit flavours in this. Hard to detect any hop resins in the brief aftertaste but sweetness returns to the finish with toffee malt. An ok session bitter.

Ridge Lane, Xmas Eve. Resolves into a beautiful rubyish glow. Smells musty with caramel leanings. Smooth, caramelised, slightly toffeeish malt bittered with understated hop mustiness. Oats again and a splash of cherry. Mellow and malty. Unchurchlike, subtle and good.
