3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned, Cafe Volo. This beer is a chocolate MONSTER. A tad watery on the palate, but the aftertaste of chocolate is rich and warming. Colour is fantasticly opaque brown-black with a powder sugar-like off white head. Chocolate chip cookies and milk come across in the aroma and while the taste retains a lot of the bread like qualities, it pales after a while.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Poured a pitch black porter with a timid head with almost no retention. Aroma is quite sweet with some notes of roasted malt. Taste is very representative of the name, i.e. tons of sweet chocolate with some roasted malts. Would make a great combo with some chocolate cake. Lack a bit of bitterness and body to make truly world class but still very much enjoyable.

draught. deep brownish, nearly black body with a small mocha head. aroma is raisiny and sugary with a ton of assertive bitter chocolate and mild coffee. flavour is very chocolatey with sticky sweetness, there is some coffee roastiness as well. pretty tasty though it is very rich.

thought chocolate was sweety rather than preferred bitter. Dessert beer and gimmicky? I think its worth trying Church Key experiments.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught at Bar Volo. Pours dark brown, almost black, with a large creamy light-brown head. Nice lacing. Looks great. Extremely mild aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Itís a nice aroma but it loses points for being too mild, I donít know if itís the glass it was served in or what? Flavour is predominently chcocolate followed by roasted malt and some coffee. Itís good but I think it was more chocolatey last year. Bodyís a little thin. A tad dissapointing but still a very enjoyable beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
341 ml bottle from tupalev. this is my third bottle of the 3 i got from jeff and each was a little different. pours black with a mid tan head that quickly reduces. muted chocolate aroma, very small but pleasent. flavour is thin but enjoyable. chocoalte and coffee notes. body is thin. ok for a session porter but ive had many better porters in my day. the 3 scores for the 3 bottles ive had would have been: 2.9, 3.9, 3.4. thats shows there is quite a bit of inconsistancy from this brewer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
341 mL bottle from the brewery. Almost black, with a nice brown head. A healthy amount of bittersweet dark chocolate in the aroma, with some underlying roast. Pretty much the same goes for the flavour. Creamy mouthfeel is slightly hindered by carbonation thatís a touch higher than it needs to be. Nothing exciting, but it is well done. Much better than last time I had one of these.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Light brown head. Dark brown liquid. Burnt, coffee and bitter chocolate aroma. Roasted notes and strong chocolate flavour, like a chocolate liquor has been added. Long chocolate finish, very bitter and then fades.

341ml brown bottle from gilvanblight. Poured deep dark brown, head was sparse, tan in colour. Flavour is lightly roasty, malty, slight coffee. Quite dry with some chocolate and black coffee finishing notes. Body a bit light/thin. Would be a nice session beer.
