Bottle. Pours a bubbly gold with a small diminishing white head. Big cranberry and maple aroma -- really nice. Flavour also of cranberries and maple syrup along with some wheat and malt. Well balanced and not cloying at all. Light bodied. Very refreshing, a great summer patio beer -- I can see how it would be an acquired taste but I really like it.

341ml Bottle: Complex, but doesnít seem to go as far as it should. Poured almost head-free, and offered up a gentle sweet smell I suppose would be the maple; however, maple is absent in the flavour. Tastes of wheat, as promised, with a little bitterness, and a welcome cranberry flavour underneath. I liked the way the flavour came out, but Iím just not sure Iíd go out of my way to try it again. Well above average as far as fruit beers tend to go.

On Tap at the Castle Tapped a pale gold with a light hazed shimmer to it...1 finger white cap does not last too long but does lace the glass well. Pungent aromas of cranberry but not synthetic or perfumery, undertones of sweetness and some grass. Front side makes an impression like a wheat biscuit with cranberry sauce on it then mid palate the maple shows ...good hop character accents the tart cranberry...finish is incredible...dry and tart from the wheat and cranberry working together some maple tones...almost puckering dryness. A summer deck beer...not a girly drink but Iím sure it will appeal to the ladies...well put together...flavors blend in proportion and give a decent amalgamation....good solid summer beer effort from a great micro.

UPDATED: JUN 27, 2005 Pint on draught at Volo. Iíd heard that this beer had improved in the couple of years since I had it last, so I thought Iíd give it another shot. Bright, clear golden colour with a faint wisp of a head. Sweet berry aroma that reminded me of Kool-Aid. Flavour is somewhat simple, with the slightly artificial but tart & refreshing cranberry flavour meshing nicely with the light, sweet beer. Not a lot of maple in there that I could find, but definately a good amount of cranberry. It was a great beer to have right after a 20 minute walk to the bar in 35 degree heat, but I donít think I could drink more than one in a sitting. And yeah, I agree that itís improved a bit.

Original rating: Being a fan of both flavours used in this beer, I expected a lot, but I ended up somewhat disappointed. Colour is a limp straw yellow with not much head. Aroma is very mild, with slight notes of malt and berry. The flavour is well-balanced but bland, with hints of cranberry in the background and little evidence of the maple. Itís not an awful beer by any means, just not as distinctive as the name would suggest. [5/2/5/3/10]

On tap at the brewery. Appearance: Amber orange, small white head. Aroma: Cranberry for sure, some strawberries and wheat. Flavour: Quite sweet and malty, some cherry and cranberry, almost ícoolerí like, not a bad little tipple.
