Dark brown pour, small tan head. Aroma of smokey malt, a little chocolate, maple syrup. Smooth medium body. Smoke and whiskey pretty much. Good solid beer. Not sessionable but nice for something different.

Black pour, little head. Aroma of dark fruit, cigarette smoke and dark toffee. Taste of peat, smoke, toasted malt, some brown sugar. Medium body - carbonation is right for the style. Prefer this one on tap, but still a fairly interesting beer and one that I will pick up from the store in Campbellford.

Beer Fest, Toronto: Black amber with beige head. Aromas of smoke and coffee with some toast. Roasty, nutty, malty flavour. Very promising.

On tap at the Black Tomato (Ottawa, ON). Opaque black body with a thin beige creamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with smokey and grainy hints. Taste is sharp and carries robust smokey notes. Ends with a strong but rather short bitter/smokey finish. Well done.

On tap, Pretty good stuff, it pours a black colour but not too too dark, the had a light aroma of smoke, with a little maltness in there. The beer was a little malty up front and a nice smokyness too it. The beer taste a fair bit smoky at front then the beer drinks really well and mixes with the smoke. Tasty some, recommend a taste

on tap. pours black with a small head. aroma is all smoke. smoked flavour with roasty chocolate malts. its hard to tell this is a scotch ale, overall pretty good.

On tap at the Wooly. Pours deep black, with a reddy tinge, very thin light tan head. Smoky aroma, taste is pretty smoky, you can taste a hint of the peat in there. Interesting!

Sampled at Royal York beer fest. Pours a very clear reddish-brown with thin tan head. Aroma is all smoky malt. Quick sweetness at the front is followed by a real big smoke finish. Some light bitterness. Smokey flavour lasts moderately into the aftertaste. A tad one dimensional.
