Our Holy Smoke is a peat-smoked scotch ale. This 6.25% abv ale is dark and malty, and is enhanced with smoked whisky malt straight from Scotland.

Dark pour with a beige head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is faint ...a little peat and smoke but almost non-existent. Flavour is also light considering its a smoked scotch ale.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2014 I purchased this beer from LCBO, tastes meaty, which is what I look for in a smoked beer. I really enjoyed it, well done Church-key Brewing, you guys surprised me on this one.

Dark mahogany pour with two fingers of head that slip away fairly quickly, leaving a little ring of lace. What a strange nose this has. There’s this really mossy, peaty thing going on with a hint of smoke and some molasses. I get this really weird gasoline/kerosene note as well. I’m getting this weird impression of red wine too for some reason but I can’t put a finger on it. Interesting, but not exactly pleasant. A lot more reasonable on the palate although the flavours are a little muted. Lots of toffee and peat smoke flavours but really not much else. Ultimately, this stuff is fairly boring.

NIce pitch black body with modest beige head on top. Aroma is all heated shoe leather and peat, lots of peat like a scotch. Flavour is animal hair with all that peat coming through with a peaty finish. Did I mention the peat yet? This is a common problem I find with the "smoked" style, way too much smoked without enough other nuances showing through.

noise bubbly head that disapers. Smoked smell and spice from bottle. Kinda cola like smell and smoke smoked smell in glass. Black wth some brown kinda looks like cola. Taste watery, sourish, some peat smoked taste and it kinda drys out and leaves a little burn in belly. Heavie bodied. Some sips r like a watery ale with a little peat smoke. Some sips r like a watery stout w/ a little chocolate and some peat smoke. Nothing bad, but has some flaw’s. Could use some changes to it. Cheer’s.

Pours a nearly opaque dark amber, with a medium white head. Aroma is quite muted, with some notes of chocolate and liquorice. Tasting notes include lots of chocolate, some peat, and liquorice. The palate is a little thin, and very little smokey character. This beer bills itself as a Scottish smoked peat ale, but it tastes more like a watery imperial stout.

On tap at the Only Cafe during the FM tap take over. Medium brown with tan head. More smoke on the palate then the nose moderate body and carbonation, meaty, fresh, and an acquired taste but I quite enjoyed this one.
