3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a very dark brown with a one finger beige head. Nose is chocolate and a peaty smoke. The smoke is definitely prominent but not overpowering. Sweet chocolate and caramel but also an underlying bitterness. Mouth is much thinner than the look would imply and maybe a litlle over carbonated. Quite nice overall,

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour with a fine bubbled and cream coloured head. It also has clearish dark brown colour. Given the style of beer the aroma is fairly muted (from over-filtration i pressume). there is a hickcory and smoke aroma with hints of chocolate, nut and roast. On the palate is has a little bit of a creamy texture, but overall this is a watery brew and has more almonds and chocolate flavours than smoke and hickory that i’d expect given the style. If this beer was in a flight of smoked beers this one would be one of the more forgetful brews. Meh, okay beer but rather bland.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
pours unclear dark brown with a small light beige head, soem retention and lacing. peat upfront, shy nutty and fruity toasted malts - then again maybe just overshadowed by peated malts, few roasted grains, earthiness, saltiness, almost some iodine, few woodsy notes. moderate carbonation, light body - tad weak, bold peaty-earthy finish. ok with barbecued merguez and steak, otherwise a tad too peated..

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Strong scent of smoke and bbq. Pours near black with amber hues. Lighter body than expected but still substantial. Flavours of peaty scotch, caramel, malt and ribs. Great beer for sipping and would definitely buy again

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Excellent dark pour with tan head.
The smokey aroma is at first overwhelming, but settles nicely.
Enjoyed this with a couple of smoked Porterhouse steaks and found it to be quite enhancing.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep chocolatey brown with a medium beige head. Aroma is of roast malts and peat smoke, but very well done. Flavour is rich and slighly sweet with darker crystal malts and peat. Finish is sweet grains and very smooth. Really well done.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
650ml bottle. Pours dark brown. Aroma has light peaty smell. Biscuity, malty taste with a bit of peat and hops coming through but not strongly. Could do with a bit more body for a strong dark beer like this.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
For some reason, it reminds me of a watered down version of Iceland’s Lava stout. Peaty, smoky, body is lacking somewhat, but then again, I shouldn’t compare apples and oranges, this is not a smoked imperial stout, it’s a smoked Scotch ale. Not quite veering towards rauchbier, but kind of in between.

Pours motor oil black with a thin lightly off white cap. The aroma is smoke, bit of old desk drawer, leather, very smokey though. The flavour is sweet malty, bit of chocolate, touch of caramel, smokiness is prevalent throughout. It’s not super complex, but It is what it is, and I enjoy it.
