Our Holy Smoke is a peat-smoked scotch ale. This 6.25% abv ale is dark and malty, and is enhanced with smoked whisky malt straight from Scotland.

Pours motor oil black with a thin lightly off white cap. The aroma is smoke, bit of old desk drawer, leather, very smokey though. The flavour is sweet malty, bit of chocolate, touch of caramel, smokiness is prevalent throughout. It’s not super complex, but It is what it is, and I enjoy it.

Sample at Picaroon's Brewer's Bash. Dark brown colour. Aroma is liquid hickory smoke. Taste is more liquid smoke, plus some kind of peaty, mulchy, almost off meat kind of thing. Thick body. Not a beer for me to drink, but it might make a good addition to a BBQ marinade or some other culinary use. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Deep brown colour. Malty, treacly, smoky, boozy aroma. It's not for me, it's got the smoke the whisky, dark fruits, treacle and malt but it has an odd old fusty aftertaste which isn't pleasant. Nah. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a reddish brown from bottle with a thick cafe au lait coloured head that diminishes to a thin surface film rather quickly, leaving heavy lacing on the glass. Aroma is smokey, like a chipotle pepper leather, wood and cocoa with a bit of underlying treacle. Mouth feel is medium bodied with little carbonation. Taste is sweet toasty malts up front with a long smoky and cocoa finish. This is not something I would want to drink every day, but it is an interesting and tasty change from the ordinary.

Bottle. Poured opaque very dark brown with a thin off-white head. All I can smell in the aroma is smoke. Medium crisp mouthfeel with a tart finish. Flavour of hickory liquid smoke. I Couldn’t finish the whole bomber.

Bottle - Roasted malts, peat and some chocolate. Jet black with a thin white head. Wow, all sweet peat, some smoke and some nice chocolaty malts. Although this is a peat BOMB, it is nicely balanced and doesn’t taste like I am sucking a barrel. I am a fan.

NIce pitch black body with modest beige head on top. Aroma is all heated shoe leather and peat, lots of peat like a scotch. Flavour is animal hair with all that peat coming through with a peaty finish. Did I mention the peat yet? This is a common problem I find with the "smoked" style, way too much smoked without enough other nuances showing through. That said, it’s still a decent beer and highly drinkable.

Bomber from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. BB JAN 03 13.

App.: Deep brown with a pretty nice light mocha head. Aroma: Lots of peaty smoke, a touch of campfire/meat smoke, good dark malt support, some brown sugar and treacle, very light roasted notes, the smoke is prominent but nicely integrated. Palate: Medium+ body, limited effervescence, smooth and slightly powdery. Flav.: A little more rich maltiness than the nose, still plenty of smoke, peat, light campfire, brown sugar, a little molasses, a touch of dark chocolate/cocoa, balanced; dry with gentle bitterness and a fairly long, smoky and deeply malty finish.

Fairly successful.

Ash black pour with thin smokey cap (sorry couldn’t resist). The kind of beer that frees the mind so the ass can follow. Leather & slow BBQ on the nose. Less scotch; more southern fried. Makes me wanna road trip to this brewery.
