Our Holy Smoke is a peat-smoked scotch ale. This 6.25% abv ale is dark and malty, and is enhanced with smoked whisky malt straight from Scotland.

It pours ruby with deep mahogany highlights; the head is light beige and foamy. The aroma has notes of: peat, bacon, wood-smoke (hickory), and cracker. The taste is light sweet that finishes light umami; there are notes of: charcoal, peat, and bread. The palate is light-medium bodied, watery, light carbonation, and a medium finish. Overall, the body doesn’t support the heavy smoke flavour.

Bomber from LCBO. Pours deep clear brown, with a head that dissipates quickly into thin lacing. Aroma is... smoke. Think campfire. There’s a little whisky and molasses in there too. Taste is smoky up front, weak and watery at the end. This was not for me - sadly, it was a drain-pour.

Pours black with a small white ring. Aroma is peat smoked malts and roasted malts. Taste is smoke and roasted malts. Peat wood and earthy notes. It says scotch ale. But I have a hard time picking up any elements of a scotch ale.

(650mL bottle from LCBO) Poured dark slightly reddish brown with a mid-sized off-white head. Aroma of peat, smoke, earth, wood, leather and a bit of oxidization. Flavour contains most of the characters from the aroma with a sweet caramel malt core to balance a fair bit of bitterness, smoke mostly held in check but becomes a bit heavy when the beer is warm near the end of the glass. Mouthfeel is fairly thin, overly carbonated. A lot going on but a bit unbalanced, still a nice glass in cool weather.

650 mL bottle. Pours a very dark brown, almost black with a good two finger white head, decent retention. Aromas of campfire, graphite and charred meat. Almost saline seeming, smoky and surprisingly dry. Actually quite light on the palate with good carbonation and a peaty finish. Interesting stuff, not overwhelming. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught at Barhop, Toronto
Dark mahogany color, not penetrated by light, with red hue; small sized creamy head. Nice aroma of peat and some oxidisation. The flavor seems to be affected more by the oxidisation; dark caramel too; correct bitterness. Pleasant but a bit messy.

First had this on tap at WVRST when someone said it was a scotch ale. Turns out its much more of a rauchbier. Didn’t enjoy it much then, but now that my expectations are different, here we go: 650ml bottle from the LCBO, served in a pint glass. Appearance: Dark black liquid, really fine, beige head. Lots of visible carbonation. Aroma: Smoke, pepperoni, malt, tobacco, maybe a faint hint of scotch or maybe it’s just my imagination. There’s some sweetness in the aroma, for sure. Palate: Medium bodied, fairly fizzy and smooth, slightly dryer finish, lingering aftertaste. Taste: Very sweet, nice long finish. Very smokey, but not overwhelmingly so (like most rauchbiers). The scotch flavour is really weak and mostly only comes out in the aftertaste, where it’s a bit of a pleasant surprise.

Bouteille 650 ml. 6.2%. Couleur brune foncée, mousse beige fugace. Arôme de fumée, choco, espresso. En bouche, fumée, malt, un peu de chocolat. Finale peu amère avec encore de la fumée. Bonne
