On tap at pub italia as dylans killer red. Smells off, a little swampy. Pours red without much head or lacing. Weird sour and light astringent aftertaste. Funky malt taste. Tap.

Clear darkish brown pour with very little head that faded very quick. Very hoppy smell. Very sweet, I wasn’t expecting that. Like sweet grasses and herbs. Church key has a very distinct hops flavour and that’s here. Sadly I’m not a huge fan of their hops. Thankfully though it’s muted in this particular beer. Low carbonation, refreshing. Just a touch too sweet. Not bad. Note: also nothing amazing either. It’s alright, pretty good.

Bottle form the beer club. Bottle just says "Church-Key Red". Pours a clear deep red with a good amount of head that dissipates slowly. Smell is caramel and biscuit malt with a bit of floral hops in the undertone. Palate is light bodied with average carbonation. Taste is slightly sweet at first then gets a bit bitter and sort of lingers there getting weaker over time. Taste isn’t great, but it’s a decent Irish ale I’d look for in a pub.

Rated as Church-Key Irish Red at The Loose Moose. Deep ruddy pour with a thick white head. The aroma is lightly earthy and a little bit leafy. A touch of light crystal and some moderate sweetness. A very faint fruitiness. Pretty nice for this style actually. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Rating #3320)

On tap at Pub Italia. By FAR the least inspired thing I had all day, and I even took a serious look at some Schoune stuff in Gatineau before this. Dark deep red with a tiny beige surface film. Lousy creamy malty aroma that is painfully faint and unimpressive. Flavour is equally faint, some garbage toffee malt and that’s about it. Pathetically simple, and I’m a guy who likes subtlties. ’Crisp’ I guess, though it would compare well with soda water and red food colouring, that was still somehow over-priced and overly filling-feeling. This wouldn’t even impress moronic frat-boys my age who you may be trying to get into craft beer with ’approachable’ stuff. Awful, wasn’t even alllowed to send it back, so thanks a lot Church Key for 1) making your stuff f***ing impossible to find (even at the brewery), and 2) making swill that never promises to impress when actually found. Seriously. Could you dial this one in a little more lazily? Sorry to be a dick but, come on! I’ve barely enjoyed ONE of your beers that I had to track down and beat up several old ladies to obtain. What the hell are you trying to accomplish as a brewery/business? *rant off*

On tap at the stinking rose. A good base of bready malts, with some light caramel. Light floral hops, semi dry bitter finish. Nothing incredible, but well made and super drinkable.
