cyrenaica (265), Milton, Ontario, Canada Mar 7, 2008 12oz draught
5.0% ABV
I tried this beer on January 18, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto. The beer was a translucent gold colour with a thin white head that quickly disappeared. The aroma was weakly malty. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, creamy, with medium carbonation. The flavour was a little soapy, some spiciness, a little hoppy bitterness, and some chocolatey aftertaste.
MrManning (1415), London, Ontario, Canada Feb 20, 2008 341 ml bottle- Pours sparkling gold with a fluffy white cap. grassy, hay and lemon in the nose with subtle hints of mint and grain. Somewhat sweet grains and grass for the flavour profile with a touch of biscuit and bread crust towards the finish. Prickly carbonation in the finish. Good. VeloVampire (375), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 9, 2007 Draught sample at the brewery - poured a slightly lighter gold than the Northumberland ale, with a thick white head. Big grainy grassy aroma - lots of grain actually. An honest, if simple, take on the style, and very refreshing. I’d take this over any macro lager anyday. Definitely Church-Key’s "gettin’ money" beer. mephisto (1083), Taiwan Aug 1, 2007 draft at starfish oyster grill in toronto. hazy yellow with off white head, it has no aroma and fruity flavor. almost full bodied, which is strange. daboskabouter (1468), Fergus, Ontario, Canada Mar 19, 2007 Straw gold colour with a quickly dissipating fizzy white head. Fresh grassy nose with a vibrant fruitiness, but upon shaking gets a little phenolic. A light, typical Church Key hoppiness in the front, with some grass and a very light sweet maltiness. An alright lager, if not just uninteresting.
