radiomgb (1761), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jun 23, 2008 Very dark brown - near black in colour, beige head that dissipated quickly, very light lacing. The aroma has some roast, light chocolate, very minor alcohol, lightly sweet. The flavour is of light roasted malts, lightly burnt, some chocolate sweetness. Sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium carbonation. Finishes lingering and sweet.
Kind of boring, quite sweet and lacking some body. Much better than The Lactese Falcon though, much better.

hip_hop (84), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 14, 2008 Just a half-pint at Volo on tap. Recollections, according to a note, of very roasty malt, notes of chocolate, coffee, with a nice finish reminiscent of a fine nutbrown ale. pintbypint (879), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada May 27, 2008 650ml brown bottle courtesy of gilvanblight and pandoragreen. Very dark brown in colour, looks to be opaque, or pretty near anyway. Tan head swells up very large and fluffy on first pour then settles to a less impressive thin layer atop the darkness. Aroma is chocolate malt with quite a bit of notes of coffee grounds. Flavour is dark roasted coffee up front, dark chocolate notes, mild sweetness with a touch of smoky malt. Dryish, roasty malt and coffee finish. Alcohol makes a brief appearance in the finish but not tot he point of distraction. This drinks like a lesser abv porter. Nice effort. DougShoemaker (2560), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 7, 2008 Nose is dark chocolate and roasted coffee, darkest brown, small toffee head. Taste is loads of choco/malt, medium bodied, bitter as hell. Very good. DerWeg (433), Tronna, Ontario, Canada Mar 21, 2008 I just drank a half pint at ?C’est What? in Toronto. Nice deep dark brown and viscous body. Smells malty, simple. Taste is rather disappointing - sticky, sweet, lacking any nuance, finish seems a bit cloying and ’off’. Finished more like a sweet stout than a porter, did not have much going on as far as acidity or dimensional malt flavors (please refer to Black Irish), Not ’bad’ craft beer but I tossed this one back without much enjoyment to be completely honest. Pull your socks up CK, Ontario needs you to present a consistently good porter and IPA.
