PaulHegedus (175), Brampton, Ontario, Canada Oct 27, 2008 ’’Wet Hopped’’ cask at Volo cask days, October 2008. This one is hazy golden yellow: has a thin head with big, fairly transparent bubbles. The aroma is grassy with some citrus in the hops. Light mouthfeel. I taste pine, grass and a bitter pine finish. matt7215 (627), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Oct 19, 2008 on cask at volo cask days 2008. golden with a tight white ring. moderately hopped but lack themalt backbone i really love in IPA’s. not bad in anyway but this one did not shine on a day filled with well hopped brews. i just found the malt profile to be a bit lacking and the palate was a touch thin. i would have this again but i didnt go back for seconds on this day. AmicusBeer (18), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 15, 2008 On tap at Volo. Excellent pale ale. Average maltiness but above average hoppiness. Oakes (7030), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 24, 2008 Golden-beige colour. Earthy, herbal, slightly spicy hop nose with a caramel base. Some woody hop, but quite a bit of diacetyl as well. Not nearly aromatic enough for the "west coast" moniker, and rather malt-accented for the style in general. Worse, though, is that the malts aren’t that good, there’s too much diacetyl and nothing comes together. Beershine (1515), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 23, 2008 Draught @ Smokeless Joe. Amber, slight haze, lovely thick head had a smiley face in it, some lacing. Aromatic hoppy nose, with orange pith. Served a little too cold. Soft mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Refreshing citrusy, zesty, and plum juice flavors. Reasonably long but with a thin finish. Just enough sweetness. Not huge but it is solid, good, refreshing, and mildly fruity.
