341ml bottle. Hazy straw with a thin white head. Aroma is grainy with herbal notes and a bit of apples. Flavor is pale malt, with herbs and a minimal touch of honey. Nice malt profile. Some hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Well made pale lager.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 matt7215 (1645) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 16, 2009
UPDATED: MAY 18, 2009 341 ml bottle from tupalev, shared with jessem. pours pale yellow with a small white head. active carbonation. aroma of peanut shell and grainy malt sweetness. the flavour is better, sweet grainy malts but clean. this lager was finishable but not much more. possibly past its prime. the second bottle i had was much better. no peanut in this one. the second bottle was a 2.8. this brewer need to get more consistant.
3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JesseM (940) - Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 16, 2009
341mL bottle shared with matt7215 at his place, thanks Matt. Pours a sparkling, bright fizzy yellow with a tiny white head. The aroma on this one was pretty bad, sour apples and rotten malts, seemed well past its prime. But Matt and I couldn’t get over how surprisingly decent the flavour was compared to the aroma. Really nice grainy malt body with some dry prickly hops in the background. Tasty barley husks as well, a lot of what I like in a good lager. To me it’s a very good example of a rough-edged Canadian lager, something Molson Canadian can only ever wish to be. Nicely done despite the smell!

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 cyrenaica (799) - Milton, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 7, 2008
12oz draught
5.0% ABV
I tried this beer on January 18, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto. The beer was a translucent gold colour with a thin white head that quickly disappeared. The aroma was weakly malty. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, creamy, with medium carbonation. The flavour was a little soapy, some spiciness, a little hoppy bitterness, and some chocolatey aftertaste.

341 ml bottle- Pours sparkling gold with a fluffy white cap. grassy, hay and lemon in the nose with subtle hints of mint and grain. Somewhat sweet grains and grass for the flavour profile with a touch of biscuit and bread crust towards the finish. Prickly carbonation in the finish. Good.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 VeloVampire (616) - Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 9, 2007
Draught sample at the brewery - poured a slightly lighter gold than the Northumberland ale, with a thick white head. Big grainy grassy aroma - lots of grain actually. An honest, if simple, take on the style, and very refreshing. I’d take this over any macro lager anyday. Definitely Church-Key’s "gettin’ money" beer.
1.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 mephisto (1253) - TAIWAN - AUG 1, 2007
draft at starfish oyster grill in toronto. hazy yellow with off white head, it has no aroma and fruity flavor. almost full bodied, which is strange.
