Bottle, 22oz, at TFODRBSG 2012. 2010 vintage it seems, but the wax was more copper than gold, so maybe 2012? A black one, more or less, clear looking and topped by a dense, beige head. Dark chocolate, roasted malts, some coffee and a touch of vanilla. A little bit of vanilla on the palate, with roasted malts, something boozy, dark chocolate and a little bit of coffee. Full body, soft on the palate. Lasting chocolatey finish. I guess Mr Churchill couldíve had some fine hours with this one. 120818

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma with weak hints of licorice. Roasted malty chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate and licorice finish.

22oz bottle of the 2012 courtesy of HopHead84. Thanks! Took a nice full pour of this since I brought it to a tasting. A: Pitch black with a quarter inch mocha head. Slides off the glass. N: Lots and lots of fudge. A little bit of prune. Caramel, vanilla, plenty of well integrated bourbon. T: Sugar, bourbon, chocolate. Plenty of ground coffee. Alcohol is evident but it doesnít detract. Some sweet cherry and molasses. M: Coating and decently thick. O: Really glad to try this. Big and round and sweeping. A full snifter is more than enough, so I was glad to share with some BAís.

Bottle shared by brew3crew. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted, cherry, vanilla, licorice and woddy bourbon alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy toasted malt and cherry flavor with a heavy dark fruit sweet and alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. This is a standout complex beer.

Bottle to snifter (thanks brew3crew). Looks good; pitch black with low carbonation and thin lacing. Smells great; woody and boozy. Tastes damn good; much like it smells with a nice mouthfeel. GOOD STUFF!!!

Bottle of 2012 vintage. Pours a pitch black color with a tan head. Aroma is of bourbon, oak, vanilla, bourbon soaked raisins, dark fruits, dark chocolate, tobacco, roasted malt and coffee. Flavor is quite complex and follows the nose, lots of bourbon, oak, vanilla, again the bourbon soaked raisins, coffee, roasted malt, liquorice, tobacco, dark fruits and dark chocolate. The body is full with a creamy mouth feel. Overall a great blended Imperial Stout!

2012 vintage. Copper wax. Poured into a snifter. Hopefully drinking this will be a fine hour for me as well. 3.0 A: Black color. Two fingers of light brown, frothy/foam head. Retention was below average, even for a beer this big, and no lacing was left. 5.0 S: Damn is this a fine smelling brew. Barrel aging is done to perfection. Bourbon and barrel give off tons of vanilla, nearly as much oak, leather, peat, melon rind, and a collaboration of generic dark fruits. The base itself offers lots of chocolate and caramel, molasses, and coffee. The beer and barrel combine to form an almost creme brulee aroma. 4.5 T: The taste if mighty fine as well, but it doesnít have the power found in the nose. The creme brulee thing is definitely back though - vanilla, chocolate, cream, coffee. Lots of oak from the barrel with leather, light peat, and fruits from the bourbon. Lots of caramel with lesser amounts of molasses. Quite the tasty treat. 4.0 M: This was the only thing I wasnít a huge fan of (that I care about anyway). Medium to heavier medium body. Too much carbonation, which I tried to remedy with occasional swirling. Lacking the creaminess that I want. Edit: Iíve found that it gets creamier as the carbonation dissipates. Bumping score to 4.0. 5.0 D: I love bashing beers that donít live up to their hype and/or pedigree. However, I have not a bad thing to say about this. Itís a wonderful beer through and through. 65cl, Vintage 2011 (silver wax), new exclusive American brew, thx to Secret Santa!, very complex Stout, roasted/alcoholic and slightlyspicy/sweet, not too heavy, balanced, hazy, good head, very good brew, yet very expensive!

2012 bottle shared by cptnspeed1...thanks Brad! - Pours black with a dark brown head. Nose is whiskey, milk chocolate, pretty sharp with light fruitiness. Taste is molasses, dark chocolate, and a mellow booziness. Butterscotch. Smooth, with nice carbonation. Decent, but the angles are too sharp in this one for me.
