Dark brown/Black pour with a dark tan head. Chocolate, vanilla, and sugary sweetness. There are from light fruit notes and a touch of bourbon. Excellent!

22 oz. bottle, courtesy of mista (thanks Geoff), pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel, slightly sour notes, oak and slight chocolate. Flavour brings out lots of oak and vanilla, a sort of sour quality without really being sour, and cocoa. Thereís a touch of dark fruit in there, like slight sour cherries. Definitely overhyped and overrated, as thereís really nothing special about this. Nicely constructed and well-balanced, finishing on oak and cocoa. Good stuff but way overrated due to rarity.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2014 Thanks to dak for the share. It pours deep and dark with a tan head of foam. The aroma is full and offers toffee notes, molasses sweetened dark roasted malts, dark roasted coffee and firm thick nose searing booze. The taste has a rich deep mix of dark roasted malts, molasses and toffee. Behind those notes are plenty of residual sugars and mild earthy coffee that go very well with the malt roastiness. The booze into the finish lets you know itís there but it just reinforces the fact that this is a sipper, a very nice sipper.

Enjoyed at gabf 2014, holy shit I finally get to try this again and here it is at gabf hidden away in the Midwest section of booths, HELL YEAH! The blue waxed bottle pours (and I took several pours) with nice and inky dark body that has a decent looking toffee colored head. The aroma offers up an intoxicating combination of vanilla, smooth bourbon and chocolate goodness. Another pull brings up toffee candy mixed with dark roasted malts around the edged of the aroma. The taste is smooth and rich and involved with silky smooth vanilla and chocolate riding over a smooth carpet of soft bourbon booze. Just as you adjust to the degree of richness attacking your senses another level is quickly revealed with sweet toffee and dark roasted malt notes that have a faint malt burnt sensation and even more chocolate. Wow. Just an amazing sipper.

2013. Dark, nearly burnt malts; heavy molasses -- a first for the CFH series. Strong oak presence on the palate. Roasty with bourbon and booze at the end. Far less bourbon than 2012; also lacks the refinement of last year's batch. A very good BA RIS, but quite inferior to the 2012.

2013 vintage shared with a bunch of SD beer geeks by one of Ivanís childhood friends, who gave him the bottle for his 40th. Not bad. Pours dark brown/black with small mocha head. Nose is bourbon, cognac/booze, vanilla. Taste is booze forward with chocolate and dark fruit. Full bodied. Awesome to get to try this one. Will probably be better after 2-3 years of cellaring.

Bomber, 2011 vintage. Poured deeper brown with a quick-forming, 1" dark yellowy beige head. The aroma picked up a lovely blend of vanilla, cocoa, brown sugar, and bourbon sugars with accents of tangy oak, more vanilla, and a kiss of rye.. just what I was looking for. The flavor found tangy oak and lightly metallic barrel on the tip of the tongue, with warm mocha, vanilla, and lesser nutty sugars at the core.. bourbon related barrel notes were laced throughout.. finished with bourbon and peppery warmth. Heavier-bodied with a bit more barrel than I wanted.. overall a decent, but not great feel and flow.. very solid brew.

Shared by Richard. Huge want of mine. Thank you so much. The beer is dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of oak, roast, brandy, bourbon, booze. Beautiful balance. Alcohol is present but unobtrusive. A delightful sipper. Wonderful, complex, intriguing. A touch of mild heat in the finish. Overall, this was outstanding and definitely lived up to my lofty expectations.

Sample from bottle courtesy of brew3crew. Pours an oily dark brown to black with a small fine khaki head. The aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, molasses, fresh boozy bourbon and a light touch of dark berries. The flavor has a wonderful blend of creamy milk and bitter dark chocolate, bourbon, some roasted malts, molasses, vanilla with a hint of dark fruits at the finish. There is no question that this is a big beer, but it is smooth with great mouth feel. I would like another shot at this someday. Consumed on 6/25/12 4.1
