Pours dark brown with tan head. nose and taste of salted caramel, chocolate, sour apple, grape taffy, grape soda, dark fruit and candi sugar. Complex and interesting. Slight tangy sourness in finish. Medium body. Interesting beer. Enjoyed it.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 jcnielsen (967) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - JUN 15, 2013
On tap at Short’s in Iowa City. Pours a dark brown color with off white head. Tart, toast, smoke, dark fruit flavors.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20 womencantsail (7106) - Garbage Grove, California, USA - JUN 4, 2013
Another CIB thanks to Andy. Dark brown pour with a khaki head. Toasted malt, dark fruit, and some metal. A bit of smoke, some sourness, and water. The flavor isn’t good, but it’s not horribly offensive, either. Sour and a bit metallic. Toasted malt, dark fruit, and some caramel. Raisin, a hint of smoke, and some water.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ICEatALAMO (587) - Troy, Michigan, USA - JUN 1, 2013
Bottle. The pour is a murky brown. The aroma is a alcohol malt. The taste is a little intense and sweet. Not as boozy as I thought.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 unclemike (1925) - Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA - MAY 24, 2013
Lightly hazy brown color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast, caramel malts, some vanilla, raisins, and burnt toast. Taste of maple syrup, brown sugar, caramel, light toasted notes to sweet for me, and a semi-sweet finish
1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 beastiefan2k (2109) - Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA - APR 28, 2013
This is actually an offensive beer. Had it a few times at fests. Most recently at the Parkville fest. It just smells awful, the ""meat drippings" is actually something pretty fowl.
1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20 adnielsen (6553) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - APR 24, 2013
Bottle @ home via wale trade with pepsiedcan. Thanks brah! Pours a deep reddish brown appearance with a decent sized brown head. Aroma definitely has some meat drippings along with apple sauce, orange jello, and a funky farmhouseness. Sugar plums, cloudberries, funk, and meat drippings dominate the flavor. Definitely think that it’s peaked, so it’s time to drink through your cellar.
1.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 Leighton (7183) - London, ENGLAND - APR 20, 2013
Bottle shared on the bus during RBWG 2013. Pours cloudy, red-brown with a light, cream cap. Fair nose, some bread, yeast, toasty sugars. Big sweet flavor, quite tangy, with harsh alcohol, Band-Aids, toffee, lots of plastic. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Tangy, warming finish, lots of rough alcohol, sugar and burnt malts. Not really drinkable. Impressive this brewery can exist while making beer like this. Offensive.

Who here asked me to rate CIB?
Who cares?
I don’t know these days.....
I must have been the first rate for CIB, but they’ve got a rep now... I was there
before
Ya’ll
Doesn’t Matter
Pours a very very dark brown, the head is small, the lace is not much....
who farted?
The aroma is very strong, very much like plums, a touch like paint thinner... some light brown sugar in there, it’s a sweet smelling beer... it’s not an uninviting beer.... it likely would not resemble the smell of a chopper.
" it likely would not resemble the smell of a chopper" (who cares?)
umad?
I’m not upset in the least....
The flavor is particularly brash,
Wow this is a quad, not a brown ale.
I know the name is ambiguous about what style of beer it is, but I’ve tasted quads like this, but never in my life any brown ale that came anywhere near this BEAST.
Whatup with the beer G?
Dude, it’s like
I don’t even know....
It’s got a bunch of stuff going on, not everything works together ok...
The beer is boozy, way boozy... and it’s got a great plum character... There is some nice spiciness, some raisin, and some mild roastiness.... the beer is lightly tart & lightly Oaky.
I genuinely hate to give this one a low flavor score.... Lots of stuff is going on here, lots of nice stuff... hell
I
Enjoy
it
But...
But I think it needs some reining in, It needs some refinement, some finesse. The recipe is good, the execution is good
Way better than expected,
But
I still can’t give it a huge nod
Too Boozy
Too Brash
Too Much chlorine flavor.....
But I’m not a full disbeliever in these folks
As I previously was, I think this shows promise, I think this is GOOD for Iowa Beer, I just hope these folks can sell enough beer/refine what they’re doing long enough to stay viable.

Andy Groomes

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Sledutah (3260) - Utah, USA - FEB 27, 2013
Bottle on the RBWG bus
Dark brown, big tan head and some lacing. Don’t drink a beer when it has "meat drippings" in the description. Bad, I see a theme here.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 jbruner (1202) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Bottle shared on the bus at RBWG! The commercial description gets this pretty solidly, death riding a chopper with leather and meat drippings. Well, it was pretty bad, that is all I can really say about it.
