3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Fairly light-bodied semi-dry cider with an acidic edge and pleasant lingering notes of pear, lively carbonation. Pretty refreshing and tasty stuff, good for a change from the classic Bretagne style.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
750 ml cork bottle bought at Park N Shop Superstore in Fanling.
Light golden yellow colour; One finger head and soapy white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Minimal lacing with very fizzy carbonation; Dry, tart and woody aroma of light apple fresh, apple juice and sparkling white wine; Dry tartnessness can be smelt a feet away; Light sweet and tart taste of dry white wine, apple, apple juice, wood, strong tannic, soda, and fainr notes of pears; Light body, watery and tart palate; Mouth feel is tart, moderately dry white wine with apple juice in light woody background. Pear taste is nearly undetectable. Very carbonated soda feel; Booze is even lighter the Doux, doesn’t contribute much to the overall picture; Pretty dry after taste, easy and tart to mouth.
Comments: Dryness and tartness should have been the main forte here, but they are not that strong for a dry cider, plus it’s way too watery and carbonated, pear taste is near zero, and apple taste is not fresh enough to be inspiring. More like having an apple soda. This is not good. I’ll stick with the “Doux” instead.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Liquor Mountain in Gion. Nice tart apple nose, some acid, can’t really get pears, but crisp and fruity. Medium gold, clear, with lace and lots of bubbles. Crisp apple flavor, somewhat tart, a bit dusty. Dry dusty finish. Very likeable, moving from full fruit to dryness. Not super complex but likeable. One of the better cidres I have found in Japan.
