A very tasty beer for all the fans of strong dark beers. The bottle I have purchased was 50cl (probably doesn’t matter but I saw reviews of this beer in a 33cl bottle which I havn’t seen in any shop). A slightly bitter finish, but overall a rather sweet one. I would recommend this beer for all of you who visit Poland.

Bottle from ElDesmadre, thanks! Almost black and opague. Coffee, licorice and caramel in the aroma. Malt, roast and lots of licorice in the sweetish flavor. Coffee in the aftertaste.

Bottle 0,5L. Very dark brown color, without head. Aroma of roasted malts. Strong caramel tones in taste, like black coffee. Light sweet tones. Without strong alcohol notes. Nice bitter finish.

ClubGonzo (1978) - Bergen, NORWAY - APR 20, 2011
Bottle, shared with Palme. Pours a near-black body with virtually no head. Aroma is tiny hints of licorice and nothing else. Taste is naught better, with only vague hints of licorice and leather. But where is the rest??? It seems to be lost. The only sensory residue is a warming alcohol feeling telling the tale of 9 % ABV. Otherwise, there is only a gaping void where the beer should have been. Strange. And bad.

0.5l bottle shared with ClubGonzo. Pours a deep brown near black body with a near non-existing head. Aroma is also near non existing with only a thin hint of something sweet. Wtf is going on here. Almost no aroma on a 9% ABV baltic porter? Thats just crazy banana! Flavor is unfortunately also near non-existing. Common Mr. Ciechan, are you having a laugh? After some attempts to warm this porter to room temperature I perhaps managed to sense some thin hints of burned caramel and a weak note of alcohol but again that could just as well be my imagination. You thankgodfully have some aftertaste with notes of licorice, roasted malts and leather. Not sure what could have happened here, but this damn near tasted nutting.

Bottle from the Alcohole store in Kracow. Completely different label on my bottle. Pours a nice dark brown color with a small tan, bubbly head. Roasted, caramel malt aroma; gentle but nice. Creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is very much coffee and slightly bitter malt. Although the label is Baltic Porter, it’s more just a straight porter for me. Absolutely no hint of the 9ABV for me.

I’m not a fan of Porter, but I’m not disappointed with this port from the Polish Ciechanow. Almost black beer, the foam durable. You can taste the hops and alcohol. Recommendation value of the port lovers

Bottle. Pours a black color with some reddish notes in the bottom of the glass, with a small tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts, coffee and some faint sweet malt and buttery notes. Flavor is fairly mild, and you dont taste the 9% ABV at all, i get the roasted malt, caramel and sweet malt and faint coffee. The body is light with a smooth mouthfeel. Overall a fairly bland Baltic Porter, but good as an introduction for newcomers to the style.

bottle from Schroppfy - thank you very much! Deep black colour, lovely creamy beige head. Even held against a lamp no light gets through the blackness of this porter. Aroma of caramel, roasetd malts, nuts, chocolate, coffee... Full-bodied yet there is hardly any trace of alcohol - it’s all very smooth on the palate. An explosion of flavours, as in the aroma: chocolate, espresso coffee, raisins, plums... Dangerously easy to drink.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2011 Bottled, best before the Ides of March, 2011. My first truly (somewhat) sour Baltic Porter in Poland; reminds me of some American versions. Pours with a nice head initially, settles into a remaining ring. Very ruby red/deep dark brown. Pretty lovely, remaining spritziness; these make the palate and appearance points above average. The aroma is classic Baltic Porter, slightly sweet/sour, with just a tinge of forest and smoke/roast. The flavor is bittersweet chocolate mixed with a slightly sour and acidic component. Strong flavors, less overall sweet than the Browar Amber Grand, less roasty than the Browar Fortuna. Poured cold, so I might have to revisit this rating when the beer fully warms (will it hold together?), but very good. 9% is not really felt, and is in the range of normal, but I would prefer a slightly lower alcohol version if one could be made. Up there in the top three of Polish Baltic porters so far, and a different animal than the other contenders.
