Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with some brown head. Aroma is choclatey, tart fruit. Taste is tough. Really sour at the end. Bad bottle or soured in bottle maybe. Just not very good.

Bottle shared by Kyle, thanks! Pours black with a creamy brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a strong red wine note with a good amount of tart red fruits with some musty dark grains. Flavor is very sour with a dry red wine note and musty dark grains.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours dark chestnut brown, almost black color with plum/mahogany edges and a two finger frothy beige head that very slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Great retention for the style and what I assume is a high ABV. Lasts through most of the pour leaving sporadic streaks of soapy lacing in itís wake.
Very inviting, complex nose with a lot going on. Somewhat floral with vinous barrel presence, roasted and sweet malt notes and vinous dark fruit. The Pinot barrel and dark berries really stand out with subtle roast, charred oak and vanilla bean nice integrated into the beer. Not dominated by wine, oak or booze with blueberry, dark raspberry, currant, grape and plum sweetness coming through. Iím not familiar with Marion berry but it has a dark raspberry/blueberry like profile. Still, the floral notes show with a perfume like quality and the complex malt bill notes stand up to the barrel notes. Subtle roast with coffee bean and dark chocolate along with sweeter dessert-like malt notes. Smells excellent with the perfect balance of berries, Pinot barrel and dark malt.
Fuller end of medium body with a strong vinous barrel presence and a boat load of vinous dark berries. Excellent integration of barrel flavors with damp oak, vanilla bean and vinous Pinot/red wine flavor. The sweet red wine notes blend perfectly with the luscious dark berries which are very prominent. Blueberry, blackberry, grape, raisin and plum sweetness countered by a subtle dark malt backbone. Just the perfect amount to balance out all of the sweetness. Not heavy enough to overpower the barrel and fruit flavors but enough to add another layer of flavor and complexity. Subtle roast and smoke with coffee bean, toast, burnt sugar and oatmeal followed by sweeter chocolate malt, caramel and toffee. Really complex and packed with interesting flavor. Not sure what the ABV is but this beer is deceptively drinkable with only subtle heat/warmth in he finish. Wow, a really impressive beer from CCB and Ecliptic.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle. Pours a very dark mahogany color with a red hue and topped by a thick layer of khaki colored foam that shows good rentention and slowly fades leaving patches of lace around the glass. The aroma is kind of all over the place showing notes of vinous red grapes, sour berries, wet oak, funk, and some herbal spices that come across as a bit funky as well. The flavor follows with more dark red grapes, sour dark fruit, berries, vinegar, and red wine laden oak. The spices add some more depth and the funk is prevalent through out. Seems a bit disjointed at times with so much going on. Medium bodied with balanced carbonation that leads a to a lengthy funky, vinous finish. I liked the use of the Pinot barrels but there was too much going on and it didnít come together as I would have hoped to truly enjoy it. Still an interesting beer though.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Medium brown. Aroma is fairly chocolatey with a light vinous character. Kinda whacky, disjointed aroma. Tart, fruity, a bit chocolatey...but a whacky fruity beer. Not great...a bit of s mess actually.

Sampled at Ecliptic. A sweet fruity aroma. Nice. So much complexity. Berries? No idea what kind. Grape skins. Hibiscus. Gawd. So much going on. Maybe a hint of gunk. This is really hood. Just so much happening that my taste buds are in over load. Thanks John for opening this!
