Serve this just under room temp for best results. When it is cold it is overwhelming, not in a good way. Beautiful look and nice mouth feel. Brew sweetens as it warms and the charred, fake smoke flavor is balanced.

2014 RBWG Grand Tasting. Black body with a thin off-white head. Black roast malt, piney hop aroma. The flavor has bitter hops on the front, burnt roast malts on the back. Spritzy, hoppy.

Black with a thick tan head. Aroma is woody with a touch of oak and general burnt wood. A little bit of roasted malt is noticeable. Flavor is very woody with a little bit of vanilla. Roasted malt, but a clean finish. Heavy up front, but surprisingly light aftertaste. Wife: 3.6

Sampled at 2014 RBWG Grand Tasting. Black, ring of tan foam. Smells like spicy coffee, with some piney and grassy notes, too. Taste is coffee, a weird medicinal flavor (not bad, just weird), and some woody, oaky flavors.

It was nice to see this one on tap at Oblivion. This was a very smooth lager with JUST enough smoke. The aroma was full of charred oak and spent coffee grounds. It tasted less smoky than the scent hinted, while the rest was soft caramel and berry. Good stuff.

On tap at Oblivion. Nose is roast, ash, wood, smoke, chocolate, fruity esters. Pour is black. Flavor is similar. A touch of sweet fruitiness behind a not so hidden smoke and wood quality. I thought this was excellent.

Bottle shared at RBWG tasting. Pours a cola brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts to the point of being burnt, peat, earthy, a splash of coffee. At times, a bit strong with the ashy char.

Bottle - Peat, smoke and char. Jet black with a thin head. Stinky cheese, the really ripe ashy skunky kind. Smokey, peaty, stinky and crazy. Love it.
