COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An imperial sweet stout brewed with cherries and cacao nibs, which is then aged in bourbon barrels. This beer is brewed in collaboration with Mikkeller our generous friend from Copenhagen, Denmark. What you have here is a modest attempt to emulate the experience of biting into a chocolate-covered cherry candy. We hope you enjoy it but you never know what you’re gonna get.

Black blacker blackest pour with very quickly dissipating tan foam. Aroma of soy sauce, barrel, some spirit, booze, choc; smells sweet. Taste is wow...lots of oak and vanilla! Almost too much vanilla! Quite sweet with some bourbon. Motor oil quality on palate with a lovely inky quality - not thin but also not full bodied. Overall, not a classic by any means but great fun to drink - just a nice sweet stout.

I’ve been sitting on this bottle since beechner224 sent it to me, glad I waited. Pours dark, thin khaki head that fades fast. Nose has a strong bourbon barrel presence, chocolate, vanilla. Taste begins sweet, bitter baking chocolate, sweet cherries, and a nice bourbon oak and vanilla. Slight smokey ness muddled in the mix but very much in the hinter ground. Body is slick and creamy, a little thin feeling but makes it very drinkable.

Bottle. Black oily pour with no head. Chocolate, roasted, dark malt aromas. Flavors are dark and sweet, some alcohol wanting tones.

Nose is mostly bourbon with some chocolate. Not much fruitiness. Minimal head. Lots of fruitiness in the flavor. Like a cherry skin. Less chocolate in the flavor. Light heat but mostly smooth. Moderately sweet. Really good.

Bottle: None more black. Used up motor oil with a slick, shiny, bare top, only coated with a thin tan collar around the edges. Lovely aroma that really does resemble a cherry cordial... Only if the cherry cordial were dunked in a pool of bourbon. Bittersweet, dark chocolate, cherry juice, vanillin, moderate tannic notes, & a strong woody aroma lathered with smooth bourbon. Taste is super sweet, even more than expected. Chocolate, cherry juice that starts slightly tart & transitions quickly to sweetness, caramel, liquefied brown sugar, & a strong bit of dripping wet oak in the finish. Boozy from front to back, helping to balance the sweetness a little but also waving that 15% ABV tag with pride. Yeah, this is a BIG beer. Insanely sweet & pretty goddamn boozy but nevertheless, it tastes really damn good, too. Slick, semi-creamy mouth feel. It’s things like this that are usually responsible for domestic abuse.

Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is very sweet, brown sugar, chocolate. Taste is insanely sweet, lots going on but can’t get past how sweet it is. Too much for me.

Tasted on 2/8/14 from a 750mL bottle at the RBWG Grand Tasting. Pours completely oily black with an average tan head that leaves thin, spotty lace. The nose is dark chocolate syrup, herbal black tea, a touch fruity, and some freshly roasted coffee. The flavor is more molasses and dusty with the herbal black tea, coffee, and very light cherry. The body is full with very little (if any) carbonation and a long dark chocolate and molasses finish.

Poured from bottle to glass. Dark hue with brown head. Aroma is figs plums , tobacco, raisins, chocolate, roast. Mouthfeel is fantastic with full body and creamy carbonation. Taste is sweet throughout with a nice astringent bitter following and clean finish. Overall this beer is phenomenal.
