An imperial sweet stout brewed with cherries and cacao nibs, which is then aged in bourbon barrels. This beer is brewed in collaboration with Mikkeller our generous friend from Copenhagen, Denmark. What you have here is a modest attempt to emulate the experience of biting into a chocolate-covered cherry candy. We hope you enjoy it but you never know what you’re gonna get.

Poured from the bottle. Pitch black color with small tan head. Aroma is cherries and chocolate. Taste gets more chocolate and bourbon as it warms. Drink it just below room temp, you get much more of the bold chocolate flavored and the barrels. Very good. Get one if you can.

Thanks to beechner224 for the bottle share! Obvious notes of chocolate and cherry in the aroma, much more bourbon in the aroma as it warms. Dark pour with thin khaki head. Taste is fairly sweet at first with nice cherry notes and some chocolate. Would like some extra chocolate/bitterness given the goal of this beer. Letting it warm brings out a little more chocolate and much more of the bourbon. This beer is really great, just let it warm up quite a bit to bring out all of the character.

Bottle at Oblivion. Pours motor oil black and almost as thick with a chocolate colored head. Chocolate, bourbon, cherry and tobacco aroma with just a hint of coconut. Taste is big huge chewy body with lots of cherry, chocolate cake, bourbon barrel in the taste. Bourbon comes in on the end. No bite what so ever. Amazing brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared at the Funky Buddha Lounge in Boca Raton, FL. Thanks Jeff! Small snifter. A very thick, black pour with very mild crimson head. Oily and shiny. No lacing. Aroma was spot on for cherry cordials. Dark chocolate, cocoa, cherries, candy, and bourbon (oak) aroma. The taste was like the sweetness of the inside of a cherry cordial. It was VERY sweet, too much for my taste. I’d rather trade off some of the cherries for more dark, bitter chocolate. But who am I to say? The mouth was very smooth, body very full, extremely rich and creamy. I’m glad I tried it but also glad I didn’t buy a bottle.

Pours an opaque motor oil black from the bottle with thin red brown head and oily film that leaves light lacing. Aroma of chocolate, sweet vanilla, bba notes, a sugary cinnamon, almost graham cracker back end. Taste is sweet chocolate, vanilla and wood from the bourbon barrel, hint of the cherries. Nice and smooth on the mouth, lactose makes it creamy, and just a hint of the booze burn - even though I have no idea how much there is - on the back of the throat. Crazy, all over the place, but delicious.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2013 Bottle at World of Beers. Huge cherry and bourbon aromas. Dark brown pour with a light brown head. Monstrous Marciano cherry notes that give way to the smooth bourbon heat. Velvety chocolate, rich caramel, dark toasted malts, oak, and lactose undercurrents. Great mouthfeel with an above average body. Impressive and actually worth the $48 we paid for this bottle. Über complex with good balance.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2013 Last bottle in town. Yay! Pours deep dark black with a small dark brown head. Aroma of fudge, fudge, fudge, some light licorice, vanilla. Smells so freakin’ rich. No cherry to start on the nose. Thick rich mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Flavor is sweet rich chocolate, tart cherry, vanilla, and finishing with a fudge bourbon left on the palate. Just a hint of alcohol burn. Not as much barrel as I was hoping. Definite dessert beer...guess I should have opened with a friend. Oh well. Not sure if I dig the cherry, as it adds an over the top sweet to this. Something to be enjoyed in smaller quantities. Gonna be a long night. 2 days later: only had a small glass fist night then let this sit in the fridge with a wine stopper for a couple days. Came back to it and while still crazy sweet, seems less so this time and a little creamier with lower carb. Still not keen on the cherry but a slight uptick and more vanilla today.

I thought this was excellent. Pours an oily jet black with a dark tan head, the color of mocha. Aromas were light oak, bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate, sweet cherries, a hint of roast, and fudge. Wow. Flavors explode with sweet but lightly tart cherries, a nice mellow bourbon mixed in with tons of dark chocolate. Everything here is very well balanced. Nothing stands out too far in the front. Not as sweet as I thought it was going to be. Very, very nice.
