An imperial sweet stout brewed with cherries and cacao nibs, which is then aged in bourbon barrels. This beer is brewed in collaboration with Mikkeller our generous friend from Copenhagen, Denmark. What you have here is a modest attempt to emulate the experience of biting into a chocolate-covered cherry candy. We hope you enjoy it but you never know what you’re gonna get.

Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is very sweet, brown sugar, chocolate. Taste is insanely sweet, lots going on but can’t get past how sweet it is. Too much for me.

Tasted on 2/8/14 from a 750mL bottle at the RBWG Grand Tasting. Pours completely oily black with an average tan head that leaves thin, spotty lace. The nose is dark chocolate syrup, herbal black tea, a touch fruity, and some freshly roasted coffee. The flavor is more molasses and dusty with the herbal black tea, coffee, and very light cherry. The body is full with very little (if any) carbonation and a long dark chocolate and molasses finish.

Poured from bottle to glass. Dark hue with brown head. Aroma is figs plums , tobacco, raisins, chocolate, roast. Mouthfeel is fantastic with full body and creamy carbonation. Taste is sweet throughout with a nice astringent bitter following and clean finish. Overall this beer is phenomenal.

Sample @ RBWG Grand Tasting. Deep brown pour with a small head. Very sweet nose. Loads of chocolate sauce, Hershey’s Syrup. Little else. The taste, as you’d imagine, is pretty sweet. Chocolate, somewhat boozy. Just a hint of roasted malt. Mellow raspberry tartness on the finish. Full body, thick and oily.

Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours a very dark brown with medium tan head that lasts. The aroma is strong dark chocolate, cocoa, roast, wood. Thick mouthfeel with rich chocolate, oak, cherry, and lingering sweet finish. Very impressive.

Bottle share at Tribes Alehouse. Pour is pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma of semi-sweet chocolate, bourbon, cherries, and oak. Flavor is similar with some added notes of vanilla and cream. Finish is bitter with a bit of alcohol shining through. Good.

Clear dark black brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, bread, roasted, alcohol, prune. Flavour is heavy sweet and light heavy bitter with a long duration, bread, dark roasted, alcohol, wood, berry, chocolate. Body is medium to full, texture is oily and sticky, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20140430]

Bottle. The pour is a very dark brown. The aroma is nice and sweet, the chocolate and bourbon mix nicely. The taste is really good. Very sweet, but good. I don't get much cherry and certainly nit compared to bourbon county cherry rye which I had right after this. One of the best beers I have had in some time. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pours Wayne Wambles-black with a fleeting, thin, creamy, brown head. The aroma is a chocolaty, fruity swirl of fudge, maraschino cherries, pouch tobacco, sorghum molasses and sweet, oaken bourbon with a hint of coconut - reminiscent of fracturing the dark chocolate shell on a cherry cordial. After taking in all the warm fruitiness and booziness that was trapped inside… Full-bodied, velvety and chewy with modest carbonation. The flavor is intense and complex. Sweet cherry fruitiness, bourbon, dark chocolate, coconut and tobacco notes play nicely together. Finishes carbonic with semi-sweet chocolate, tangy acidity and the perfect measure of boozy warmth. I heard this was running a little hot, but wanted to crack it now, before the cherry component fades. This is every bit as intense, viscous and deeply-roasted as Zhukov, and every bit as complex and layered as Hunahpu’s. Big bourbon in both the aroma and flavor, but the alcohol heat is almost completely diffused/spread thin throughout the layers of malts, hops, chocolate, cherries, roastiness and oak. Bravo to the creators of this treat! Advice = Drink slowly and at room temperature like you would a small glass of Apis Póltorak Jadwiga. It took me three days to finish the bottle. World class stuff!
