COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An imperial sweet stout brewed with cherries and cacao nibs, which is then aged in bourbon barrels. This beer is brewed in collaboration with Mikkeller our generous friend from Copenhagen, Denmark. What you have here is a modest attempt to emulate the experience of biting into a chocolate-covered cherry candy. We hope you enjoy it but you never know what you’re gonna get.

Bottle. Pours opaque black with a small, frothy beige head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is bourbon, cherries, oak, heavy chocolate, light coffee notes, earthy hops, dates and figs. Flavor is dark malt dominant with dark fruits, light hops and bitterness, light tartness, and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

Pours black, almost no head. The aroma holds cocoa, vanilla, sweet cherries, lots of roasted malt. The flavour is medium to heavily sweet, light to medium bitter and light acidic with notes of chocolate, cherries, vanilla, balanced malt and light bourbon. The mouthfeel is sticky and fat with a light carbonation. Dark chocolate finish. Near full bodied.

RBWG14 Trip Rating #108. Bottle shared at the Grand Tasting. Pours a very dark brown color with a thin tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, sweet chocolate, wood, mild bourbon notes. The taste is sweet dark chocolate, herbal hops, whiskey. Medium bodied, slight booze.

Bottle. Thanks! A: Inky black with a brown head. Dark legs. N: Rich cocoa, caramel, oak, bourbon, and cherries. Raisin, molasses, and a touch of soy cause. T: Brown sugar sweetness, some cherry sourness. Not cloying. Chocolate covered maraschinos for sure. M: Oily, slick, and hefty. Alcohol is well hidden. O: A treat. Big and burly, with enough subtlety to stay interesting. The sourness can undo the taste a bit, but that’s my only complaint. A perfected 2009 Abyss.

Bottle - Molasses, bourbon, boozy and chocolate. Jet black with a decent brown head. Sweet coffee, chocolate and much lighter than the nose suggests.

Bottle generously shared at the RBWG grand tasting. Sweet as all hell. Syrupy yet slightly dry and crisp finish. It’s almost all chocolate malt with a hint of cherry. Flavorful and enjoyable.

Bottle sample at RBWG. Pours a dark brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have nice milk chocolate, caramel, a decent amount of bourbon without being overpowering to the beer, vanilla and dark fruits favoring cherries. The 15% remained mostly hidden and I am surprised it was this big.

Bottle @ RBWG. Pours a black appearance with little head. Pours a thick ink black appearance. Goopy chocolate, Sugary aroma. Pretty boozy, heavy malty flavor. Lots of chocolate. A bit too much for me.
