Aroma: Alcohol notes overpower the aroma of toasted malts Appearance: A cloudy deep amber that is practically dark brown Taste: Starts medium sweetness with toffee and malt. Subtle hoppy bitterness and ends with a strong alcohol aftertaste. Palate: Warming finish but too strong an alcohol taste to be smooth. Overall: An interesting collaboration and a better modern take on the Barleywine. Lacks the sophistication expected from these two breweries. Exhibits Cigar City’s mainstays of high alcohol content and assertive hops but fails to balance with a taste that can stand up.

Tap @ CBC, 2012.
Pours deep chestnut with a small, creamy, beige film head. Aroma has lots of sweetness, caramel, chestnuts, hazel and fairly vinious. Milky chocolate. Medium carbonation, nice fat and oily mouthfeel. Flavour is very sweet, vinious, more hazelnuts, caramel. Quite strong alcohol presence. But a nice BW nonetheless.
