Mega Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Paul for this treat. Light haze on this dark brown beer. Small pale cream coloured head. Palate is softish and slightly dry. Sweetish malts carry mild chocolate. Smooth barrel induced vanilla with mellow sweetish cognac. Dried fruits before a little spice. Pretty approachable for such a big beer.

Bottle at RBWG 2013 Grand Tasting. Pours clear auburn with a fine, beige cream head. Rich toffee aroma, some ripe fruits, bread. Big sweet flavor, lots of brown sugar, toffee, bread, mellow leafy hops, toasty bread. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish, more rich sugars, brown sugar, toffee, bread, figs. Awesome. Big and sweet but I wouldn’t say too much. Decadent.

Bottle shared at HUGE Friday, big thanks to Paulo for this treat, 03/01/14. Murky mahogony brown with a moderate light beige covering that this to edgework and a pond. Nose is dark toffee fudge, dark malt, fruit loaf, sweet brown bread, dark fruits. Taste comprises toffee fudge, brown sugars, boozey tones, sweet, candied sugars, dark fruits. Full bodied, fine carbonation, light boozey twang in the finish. Solid barley wine, a little sweet at times but generally a good all round balance.

Pours a murky brown with no head. Smell is almost all barrel. Tons of brandy, oak, toffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Mild booziness and lots of dark fruits. Flavor is super sweet, brown sugar, caramel, barrel, brandy, and vanilla. A bit of dark fruit sweetness, alcohol heat, and toast.

750mL bottle, sent from Elliesbrown (thanks a lot, Zack), pours a dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma of cognac barrels, alcohol, caramel malts and dark fruits. Flavour of intensely sweet cognac barrels, caramel malt, and candied sugar. Extremely complex, accentuated by the cognac barrels, on the border of being too sweet. Remarkable stuff, but drinkable only in small quantities.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear dark brown color with an averagefrothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark chocolate, alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex sweet flavor with a medium to heavy complex sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.
