COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A collaborative beer produced by Terrapin Beer Co. and Cigar City Brewing, two innovative breweries in the deep South. We decided to make a beer that will bring to mind a Southern staple, pecan pie. Pecans were first introduced to colonists by the Algonquin Indians. They referred to the nut as pakan or paccan, which means "a nut so hard that is ha to be cracked with a stone." The two breweries agreed that a malty, dark lager would be a great canvas for such a Southern tradition, graciously slathering heaps of Munich malt and other specialty grains to emulate a portrait of Southern hospitality, the likes of which could conquer any sweet tooth.

And just a reminder, itís pronounced puh-CON, not PEE-can!

Tasty, tasty, tasty. Pecan and vanilla come out great and there is a nice alcohol taste that hits the pallet. Must try.

Dark amber and vanilla is very strong. Nice sweet pecan vanilla aroma, and I like that it isnít a chocolate imperial (as I expected.) A sweet desert beer nonetheless.

Clear brown pour, light head. Flavors of maple syrup, pecans, crust, light roast, some lactose notes. Very good stuff!

Thanks, Andrew, for the share. Nose is pie crust, walnuts, chocolate, vanilla. Flavor is big graham cracker and walnuts with a chocolate/vanilla sweetness. Pretty enjoyable.

For the style, itís not beautiful. For the flavor, itís great. Plenty of sweet nuttiness, caramel and chocolate. Keep it coming. Killer but not for a typical dopplebock, however itís still good.

Bottle @ Steve_0, thanks doodler! Pours a clear reddish brown appearance with a brown head. Caramel, cardboard / oxidized, earthy, brown sugar aroma. Thick body. Syrupy / maple, toffee, thick sugary flavor. Finishes thick and sugary. Not my thing.

Bottle at home with friends, courtesy of Armin. Thanks ma!. Pour is deep brown with a frothy tan head and great lacing. Grainy, lightly chocolatey, bready, caramelly, toffee, roasty, somewhat grainy, and sweet malty aroma. Taste is husky, vanilla, caramel, grainy, somewhat nutty, tart, dark fruity, and soy sauce. Creamy body with soft carbonation. Really different beer.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, dark reddish, brownish black pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of bourbon, pecan pie, oak, vanilla, hints of dark fruits, raisin, plum into a bit of molasses. Taste is a mix of molasses, brown sugar, slight bourbon, oak, pecan, nice vanilla in there, finishing fairly sweet, slightly boozy, dry.

750 ml bottle at RBWG grand tasting. Pours a nut brown color with slight reddish highlights and a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have a nice pecan nuttiness, caramel, lightly toasted, earth, cinnamon, mild vanilla and some of the alcohol shows.
