Bottle shared by scotchzi! Pours a translucent dark brown with thin tan head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma is nutty, earthy wood, hint of sweetness, and lager yeast. Taste is dead on pecan pie, wow, nice nutty sweetness that’s not over powering on the caramel. Nicely done.

pretty decent dopplebock, though you really only got the pecans after it warmed up a bit. pretty tasty then, not too bad of a alcohol burn, and the vanilla blended nicely.

After it warms a bit, the aroma and flavor both come out. Pleasantly sweet with a subtle pecan flavor. Nice thickness in the palate as well.

Draft at CCB. Clear deep brown pour with a bubbly white head. Aroma of toasted pecan sweetness, chocolate, vanilla, butter toasted bread, toffee and molasses. Thick body with the above mentioned flavor with a smooth sweet ending. Damn fine beer, really surprised by this one.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had on draft at the brewery. Was a bit nervous about this one, as I've had some bad experiences with pecan beers before. Right away, the taste is quite sweet. While it was marketed as tasting like pecan pie, it is much more reminiscent of the flavor of CCB's oatmeal cream pie lager, which is a good thing in my book. Beyond the unique creamy sweet flavor lays a very subtle pecan flavor. It's hard to pick out but it's there. Still, like every other pecan beer out there, it just can't bring the nut to the forefront. Luckily, the beer has a lot more going for it. The 10% is nowhere to be found, making this a dangerously drinkable beer.

From the bottle. Reddish brown pour with thin off white head. Nutty, pie crust aroma with hints of chocolate. Taste is pure dessert beer, chocolate, nut, pie crust and possiibly a hint of whip cream. Delightful.
