A collaborative beer produced by Terrapin Beer Co. and Cigar City Brewing, two innovative breweries in the deep South. We decided to make a beer that will bring to mind a Southern staple, pecan pie. Pecans were first introduced to colonists by the Algonquin Indians. They referred to the nut as pakan or paccan, which means "a nut so hard that is ha to be cracked with a stone." The two breweries agreed that a malty, dark lager would be a great canvas for such a Southern tradition, graciously slathering heaps of Munich malt and other specialty grains to emulate a portrait of Southern hospitality, the likes of which could conquer any sweet tooth.

And just a reminder, it’s pronounced puh-CON, not PEE-can!

Sickeningly sweet pecan pie crust and filling, basically nothing else going on, just tastes a lot like liquified pie which is way too sweet even if this was a milkshake and not a beer.

Bottle shared by a friend. Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, nuts and extract. Malty flavor giving way to pecan and caramel accents before a nutty finish.

(Rating #9,900) Bottle... Pours clear, very dark and deeply crimson. The nose offers chocolate with subtle, but distinct notes of toasted pecans. Full-bodied and creamy with laid-back carbonation. The flavor presents notes of milk chocolate and creamy mocha that are nearly overrun by a biting level of alcohol. Finishes boozy and hot. Bottle courtesy of Otakuden!

Found this gem at a restaurant on the ocean in myrtle beach. Sweet sugary beer with a nutty flavor as well. Pours reddish brown with a thick cream head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reddish beer out of the big bottle with a short foamy beige head. Really sweet nose of vanilla and brown sugar. This beer is dominated by a purfumey vanilla that is almost waxy to me. Sweet beer with tons of brown sugar and the goo in a pecan pie, but its all just wrapped in this vanilla taste. There is some fruitiness and a lot of alcohol, especially as it warms. Interesting take on a double bock, but I could do with less vanilla.

Boutelle 750 ml. 10%. MERCI AMÉLIE ! Couleur noire, assez opaque, mousse mince beige.

Entering old ticks.....brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, pecans and banana esters. Taste follows, not loving the banana presence
