The aroma is a swirl of dark and medium roast malts - coffee, chocolate and caramel – with lots of campfire and peat smoke. Full-bodied and oily with restrained carbonation. Sweet, over-the-top-smoky flavor and finish. Best of two worlds for me – rauchbier and Scotch ale. Fantastic. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA

Pours a murky dakr brown with pretty much minimal head, small light bubbles hug the edge of the glass. Smells of big peat and smoke, dark malts, hints of toffee and caramel, along with and earthy aroma to it. SoLan described it as tennis balls or new pair of Nike kicks. The flavor is pretty big on the smoke as well, with the caramel malt and light doses of dark fruits and vanilla. Very nice brew for people who like smoked beers, a I do. Interesting and exciting flavors. I dug it. markwise (1179), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA

Aroma is malt, smoke, and band-aid, with caramel. Flavor is smokey vanilla, maple, and earth with some lingering smoke in the finish. I am not a fan of the style, but I could drink this beer. The more I drink other beers of this style, the more memorable this beer becomes. argo0 (6897), Washington DC, USA

Nice smokey aroma with some underlying sweetness of caramel, toffee, and some dark fruit. Muddy brown with a thin head. Flavors are smokey and salty on top of a good malty base. Smoke is strong and initially overwhelming, but eventually blends very nicely with the dark malts as they provide a nice salty sweetness. Dry salty smokey flavors linger. The sweetness is very nice. A nice beer. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown amber with a one finger tan head that fades leaving good lacing. Aroma of smoke, caramel, a touch of dark fruit, and a slight nuttiness in the finish. Taste is the same as aroma with the caramel and dark fruit really coming through with the smoke in the finish. Full mouthfeel with a mild to moderate amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. Freaking delicious. Gillard (42), Florida, USA

The head is very minimal but produces a slight beige to mocha head. The smell is unbeleivable smoke, smoke, and some more smoke. Tons of pete and maybe hints of hickory in there simple mind blowing smell. Taste is overwhelming on the palate I get obviously lots of smoke, toasted marshmellow’s,macroons, some chocolate frickin delicious. The palate is thick, and very vinous simply lush in the mouthfeel.
Overall a truly unique, and delicious elixir that will truly inspire people to seek this beer. Wayne and Joey are up to great things at CCB after4ever (2738), Brier, Washington, USA

Pours dark ebony with slight ruby highlights at the corners. Headless. Laceless. Oily body on the high side of medium. Bacony, campfirey nose, and those notes roll straight into the mid-palate: bacon, campfire, prune, some chocolate. What a beautifully dense and detailed mid-palate: quite unlike anything I’ve tried. Long smoky bacon finish. I hope this wasn’t one of those happy accidents that can never quite be reproduced; I’d love to have this again and again. Cheers to CCB!
