3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours a deep brown with tan head. Aroma of strong malt, dark fruit, earth, burnt toast. Flavor is much the same and very sweet with an earthy bitter at the end. Mouthfeel is heavy body and low carbonation. It is what it is.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nose is caramal malt with a nice citrusy hop underpinning. Pour is a murky dark amber, almost red. Lightly bitter on the back end with alot of biscuity malt and caramel up front. This is really well balanced and very enjoyable.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Dark amber pour, with a creamy off-white/tannish head. Tons of caramel... it really dominates the flavor, sweet, raisin, light fruit, and bitter slightly metallic hops. Pretty good for the style, but overall its just a middle of the road beer for me.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle thanks to burg326. Poured a dark brown with amber hues around the edges. Big khaki colored head, nice lace. Aroma was big rich caramel malts, some dark fruits, raisin, then a nice dose of piney hops. Reminded me much of a 2010 Nemesis minus the roast. Touch of heat too. Smells delish. Flavors were also big on the caramel, big time rich and sweet. Light fruit, some citrus, decent bittersweet finish. Smooth stuff, medium carbonation. Dangerously similar to a 2010 Nemesis if I remember correctly...

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 11, 2011 Poured from a 750ml bottle into a Cigar City snifter. Bottled May 5, 2011 printed on label.
Appearance: Pours a deep red-caramel color with beautiful ruby highlights and a 1-2 finger creamy khaki-colored head. Excellent head retention and lacing. Looks delicious.
Smell: Sweet caramel, pineapple and candied fruits and a touch of alcohol.
Taste: Sweet caramel malt up front followed by dried dark fruits in the middle then ending with smoky malt, and just a touch of hoppy bitterness. Aftertaste is smoky with bitterness lingering in the background. Very malty beer with just the right amount of hops blended in to make it well-balanced.
Mouthfeel: Full-bodied, thick and creamy with a decent amount of carbonation.
Drinkability: Good drinkability. Goes down easily, but youíre probably better off sharing a bottle with a friend.
Overall: Very good beer overall. Not on the same level as Tocobaga when it comes to red ales from CCB, but itís still very good. Call me a homer, but I like pretty much everything Cigar City puts out. This is no exception. Iíd recommend giving this one a try.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Moderate to heavy roasted and caramel for the malt, pine for the hops, moderate dough for the yeast, with grape, raisin, fig, wood, boozy-alcohol and faint spice in the background. Head is small, frothy turning creamy, light tan with a touch of red, with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear mahogany. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet with a long bitter end. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily with a soft carbonation and a lightly alcoholic finish. Perfect balance in this American Strong Ale, and itís tasty all the through. An awesome beer.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
barely translucent reddish mahogany with a thick tan head; sticky and creamy full body with medium-high carbonation.
aroma: resinous leafy piney hops, caramel chocolate roasty malt.
taste: sweet sticky leafy resinous hops, caramel roasty malt. very intense but fairly well balanced. alcohol is well hidden.
if hops grew on trees, and you could tap those trees to get hop tree sap, and boil it down to a sweet syrup, this is how i imagine it would taste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The aroma is very sweet and alcoholic, fruity, floral, metallic, woody, malty, and piny. The appearance is deep amber with a large tan head. The taste is like the aroma with a bitter caramel like finish. The palate is typical for the style. Overall a good beer but the astringency is an issue for me.
