3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to Kevin, Jeff, and Tony for sharing. Pours black with almost no head. Aroma is packed with raspberry jam with some light burnt wood, ash and chocolate. Seems to be a bit too much raspberry in the taste though. It’s pretty much all I taste except for a little ash and some coffee-like bitterness. Still a really good beer but I just wish the raspberry was more balanced with the base beer.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: Oily, deep black hole, much like the rest of Cigar City’s stouts. Slick & thick looking, no head whatsoever. Aroma is very nice with notes of sweet & lightly tart raspberry jam, blackberry, robust chocolate, honey, grapes, & a strong undercurrent of vinous grapes, oak, & port. Yeah, you can definitely tell it was aged in port barrels. Taste is chocolate covered raspberries with notes of port wine, earth, & wood. Big jammy character, lots of raspberry & other berry notes with a decadent, sweet chocolate river flowing through. Silky, large mouth feel... Great stuff, here. Reminds me of a "stout" version of Kuhnhenn’s Raspberry Eisbock. A whole bottle would be intimidating but in smaller doses, this is very, very lovely.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, maple syrup, raspberries, and just a hint of roast. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange highlights along the outer edges of the glass. It has a small tan head that quickly fades to a very fine ring. The flavor starts with starts a quick dose of dark chocolate. The finish has moderate sweet raspberry with a touch of tart raspberry. There’s also some faint roast. It’s medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a slightly oily mouthfeel.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from a bomber into a tulip glass. Stout aroma with a moderate raspberry presence. A nice blending on the nose. Taste is similar. The base stout her is excellent and assertive. Nice soy sauce like flavor (reminiscent of, but not quite as intense as, Marshall Zuchov). The raspberry is sharp, sweet, and fits snugly in the middle of the taste. It has a bit of that cloying "fruit syrup" element to it, but never really crosses the line. As the beer warms, it becomes better integrated into the stout. For 11% this drinks really smooth. I can see how some might diss it for being a bit of a gimmick or simple beer, it really is just an imperial stout with raspberry flavor, but it's so week executed that it easily comes off as something more.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml and served in a snifter: Pours jet black and had an initial deep tan and orangy frothy head, spotty lace. Beside the raspberries and light red wine notes, there is still plenty of that CCB characteristics of roast, tobacco, walnuts and char found with pretty much all there darker beers. Slight oxidization, faint chocolate sourness from the fruit which helps balance the sweeter malts. Some fusels show as it warms, best to drink this semi-cold. The best 110K+OT since Batch #2 Barrel Aged. Cobar approved and send by beer buddy Eric Starnes, cheerio.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured a blackish color with aromas of chocolate, roast, raspberries, some light earth and a touch of barrel. Flavors are the same almost like a raspberry brownie with some booze in it. Solid imperial stout sucks I only have the 1 bottle.

12/26/13. 750mL bottle. Black pour with a nice tan head. Nice aroma, plenty of raspberry, some chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt aspects, light sweetness and tartness from the port barrels. Awesome flavor, really digging it, plenty of raspberry, combined with chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and a nice barrel presence. Yum.
