Pours jet, motor oil black with a thick brown head. Aroma of chocolate, tobacco, molasses, raspberries and caramel. Taste is like a chocolate raspberry truffle, so smooth yet very thick. Lots of chocolate, roast, raspberries. So amazing, one of my favorite Ccb beers yet!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750ml bottle, El Catador Club purchase. pours rich, dense, and motor-oil black capped by a thin, dark mocha head that leaves thick sheets of lace. aroma is really stunning with huge notes fresh raspberries, blackberries, and I get some blueberry skins as it warms blended with dark chocolate, roast, subtle molasses, and just a hint of vinous oak. flavor is truly wonderful as well, bringing the stout profile to the forefront with heavy roast, baker’s chocolate, devil’s food cake, toffee, and toasted oak ahead of dark, vinous fruits, slightly tart raspberries, sweet plums, and black cherries from the port barrels. palate is smooth, rich, and just a shade less decadent that the other CCB imperial stouts but it really works with the dark fruit notes making in surprisingly easy to drink. overall, yet another world class imperial stout from CCB.

12/26/13. 750mL bottle. Black pour with a nice tan head. Nice aroma, plenty of raspberry, some chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt aspects, light sweetness and tartness from the port barrels. Awesome flavor, really digging it, plenty of raspberry, combined with chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and a nice barrel presence. Yum.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from a bomber into a tulip glass. Stout aroma with a moderate raspberry presence. A nice blending on the nose. Taste is similar. The base stout her is excellent and assertive. Nice soy sauce like flavor (reminiscent of, but not quite as intense as, Marshall Zuchov). The raspberry is sharp, sweet, and fits snugly in the middle of the taste. It has a bit of that cloying "fruit syrup" element to it, but never really crosses the line. As the beer warms, it becomes better integrated into the stout. For 11% this drinks really smooth. I can see how some might diss it for being a bit of a gimmick or simple beer, it really is just an imperial stout with raspberry flavor, but it's so week executed that it easily comes off as something more.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, maple syrup, raspberries, and just a hint of roast. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange highlights along the outer edges of the glass. It has a small tan head that quickly fades to a very fine ring. The flavor starts with starts a quick dose of dark chocolate. The finish has moderate sweet raspberry with a touch of tart raspberry. There’s also some faint roast. It’s medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a slightly oily mouthfeel.
