Growler at RBwG 2013 Grand Tasting. Interesting stuff. Not very sweet, some dark malts, dry burnt bread. Some tang. Medium bodied with fine carbonation, a bit astringent. Not much going on here.

Growler... RBWG 2013… Pours Zhukov-black with a small, creamy, beige head that’s gone in a flash. The aroma is a complicated journey through a maze of dark chocolate, fudge, charcoal, sour-cherry skin and crisp, fruity, high-pitched acidity. Full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The tangy, roasty flavor is constructed of espresso, dark chocolate, burnt malts, tobacco, sour cherries. Finishes tart and roasty. Flip-top growler thanks to the actual Adam that won this contest at CCB. Thanks! Inky pour that has lost some carbonation over the months. Essentially flat and uncarbonated. Nose is a bit green coffee, moving to heavier roast, blackened char, some aggressive black patent and coffee malts. Taste though is spot on still- light sour black cherry, lemon acid, red wine character, slightly lactic to balance. Vinous overall, moreso than expected. Quite nice.

Tampa, Fl - on tap at the CCB Tasting Room. Tar-black pour, thick mocha colored head, nice lacing. Aroma has some fresh black potting soil, a bit of espresso and some creosote. Flavor has licorice notes, a bit of creosote, chicory, bitter unsweetened chocolate, but lacking in any cherry presence. Nice chalky mouthfeel. Nice.

Growler to taster at the RBWG Grand Tasting (shared by burg326, who made the beer - thanks Adam!). Looks good; pitch black with mocha lacing. Smells and tastes solid; dark malt and roast with a hint of cherry. Good on the palate too. Good beer.

On draft for Hunahpu Day. Thanks to gkost for grabbing this one and sharing. Cheers, Gary. Pours a stout brown/ almost black with a tan head. Nose is some roast, malt, earth, coffee, some deep cherries, and slight smoke. Flavor is similar- chocolate and earthy stout with a hint of smoke, and cherries if you search for them. Medium to full in body with lingering chocolate and a hint of bitterness.

Bottle shared by THE ADAM at RBWG. Thanks Adam!! Nose shows some really nice black cherry flesh/juice, light bitter cherry skins, light cocoa. Flavor is similar--really enjoyed the balance between the bitter skins and the sweeter juicy flavors from the cherry. Nice work, Adam.
