COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A tropical interpretation of a Belgian-style Dubbel. Dubbel Dare is a collaboration created by AleSmith Brewing Company and Cigar City Brewing. Keeping their local environments in mind, this dubbel was crafted implementing coconut palm sugar instead of candi sugar. Coconut palm sugar adds caramel notes to the already complex malt flavor and has a lower glycemic index than other simple sugars.

Deglet Noor dates and Black Mission figs were added during active fermentation, adding another complementing sweetness to the grist bill and tying in beautifully with the spice and fruit aromas and flavors provided by fermentation with a traditional Abbey yeast strain.

Bottle... Pours clear and copper with a minimal, white, creamy head. The aroma furnishes caramel, dried dark fruits and minerals. Full-bodied and fatty with airy carbonation. The flavor is perfectly-balanced and presents a blend of minerals, caramel and tea biscuit. Minerally, tongue-numbing, lightly acrid finish. Bottle courtesy of ctipping!

Bottle. Moderate to heavy cereal, nutty and caramel for the malt, light cooked orange for the hops, moderate dough for the yeast, with date, fig, toffee and a hint of sulfur. Head is small, fizzy, and quickly and fully diminishing. Color is murky, medium brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, creamy, with a lively carbonation and a lightyl alcoholic finish. The flavor is just a touch flat in a few places, but this is still a tasty Belgian Ale.

Bottle, sent my way by Homer - thanks! Pours hazy hazel in color, small off-white head, dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is caramel and toffee up front, with cocoa, figs, and rain. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, caramel, figs, a touch of rum, spicy yeast. Lingering, kind of harsh, bitterness on the palate. Medium body. Pretty solid effort.

Bomber - Not bad. Plenty of dark fruit and a little heavy on spices. A little too much carbonation for my liking as well. Not getting much of the added sugar which is nice.

Thanks to drowland for the share! Pours an amber color with a reddish hue. Strong dark fruits and caramel in the nose. Very sweet taste had raisin, date, brown sugar, toffee, Belgian yeast, and a touch of chocolate and coconut. Nice crisp feel for a dubbel, with a slight stickiness at the end.
