Sample @ CBC. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are dried fruits, rich malt, caramel, flowers and hops.

Tasted on 6/2/12 from a capped 750mL bottle, thanks to Nick for sharing. Pours an opaque dark brown with a thick tan head that leaves thick, but very even lace. The nose is darkly roasted malt with some coffee, dark bread, and caramel. The flavor is quite dry with some cedar spice, coffee, and dark chocolate. The body is full with average, smooth carbonation, and a long lightly bitter dark finish.

Bottle share thanks to beechner224. Huge, foamy pour, all foam. Dark brown with huge light brown head. Sweet, booZy molasses caramel and toffee aroma. More of the same in the aroma plus some roast character. Tasty.

"June í13. Big, interesting brew. Reddish brown, big aroma and flavor of dark fruit, brown sugar, light somoke and alcohol. There is a faint tartness to the flavor that is different than the lemony astringency sometimes present in scotch ales. Bready notes on the finish as well. Lots going on in this one. Hard to get out here in the west, but i hope to try again."

Too sweet for me. Nose and aroma are all caramel to pair up with the dark fruit. Honestly, itís too much for me

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Aroma is sweet malt, brown sugar, light roast, and caramel. Taste is sweet malt with brown sugar, light bitterness, and peat. Lingering cola sweetness. Lightly coating mouthfeel. Decent actually.

Sept 2011 bottle; bit of a gusher. Tons of brown head above a dark caramel body. Good retention.

Smells like barrel & toasted caramel. Tons of carb, tastes and feels a bit like A&W root beer. Weird, but I kinda dig.

From a 0.75l bottle @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013. This is a near clear dark brown one with a not so good looking beige islandy top. The nose is light acidic and sweet. Some red sour berries, licorice and dark malts. Somehow Iím really liking this aroma. Great drinkability. Lovely flavors, light acidic with both dry licorice, red wine barred notes and some chocolate paper. Acidic and lasting finish here. Itís not sour, but woody acidic with a strong sweetness thatís balancing it. 03.05.2013
