Tap at Capone’s. Lighter orange color, foamy head with some lace. Taste is very fruity, orangy, hard candy like with with floral and citrus hops and honey-biscuit malt.. Very good, american-hoppy beer, but it had a unique candy-like aftertaste that reminded me of a hand-full of fruit Chicklets right out of the package (before all the candy-coating was gone).

Cigar City Batch #69 Double Cream Ale has a big flavor that goes well with strong and spicy foods. Nice sweet aroma coming off a copper-amber pour with a nice head. Taste is malty with a certain cloying sweetness to it and a bit of a hop bite at the end. The higher ABV is not very noticeable. The sweetness lingers on the palate longer than I prefer it. Batch #69 is a good brew just not a standout.

Pours copper-amber with a thick off white head. Aroma is faint fruit and bread. Taste is initially orange & tangerine followed by the lactose creaminess, mild malts and faint spiciness.

Lightly hazy amber beer, good off white head. Palate is light and a little crispy. Semi dry. Light bretty - seltzer minerals. Tangerine and a little lactose. Whisper of caramel and candied fruits. Finishes semi dry. Nice flavour profile.

3.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
roma is sweet malt, tropical fruits, orange and citrus. The taste like the aroma is fruity and malty up front with a very nice citrusy hop bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a perfect amount of carbonation. Overall, this is not your daddy’s cream ale. Once again, another solid beer from Cigar City.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Exactly as you would expect a double cream ale to taste. Bad style choice was bad. Doughy cereal malts and heavy candy sugar sweetness. dull listless hops that hate their lives.

Bottle courtesy of randomgarbage’s rotbox @ randomgarbage’s wedding reception @ Iowa CIty. Pours a hazy orange/golden appearance with a thin brown head. Somewhat sugar, light caramel, dull hoppy, bready nose. A little boozy, light toasted malty, a touch caramel/butterscotch, herbal flavor. Probably been in the rotbox too long but decent.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750ml bottle that I picked up at some point on Hunahpu day (so... no idea where I got it). Yellow-gold pour with thin white head. Aroma is cider, grain, dough, grapefruit. Tastes are caramel, honey, floral, candied sugar, light pepper and spices, little acidity, citrus. Feels boozy, but covers it well in the taste. Leaves a soapy acidic vibe. Overall, better than I expected (not sure why I wasn’t expecting much w/ CC - guess it was the cream ale in the title).
