Commercial Description:
Big Sound Scotch Ale is dedicated to our good buddy Gino, the most punk rock bagpiper you’ll ever meet, and the rest of the men and women of Tampa Bay Pipes and Drums. Brown in color, Big Sound has huge notes of dark sweet toffee with underlying mild notes of coffee in the aroma. The flavor starts with a slight note of cherry and then opens into a Goliath of a malt character with notes of dark sweet toffee, slight hints of coffee and mild notes of toasted bread in the finish. Big Sound Scotch Ale pairs well with Haggis, Highland Games, Huge Heads and Enormous Pillows and of course Bagpipe music.

Bottle. Poured redish brown, with a relatively small tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, bread, light spice, roasted malt. Some mild dark fruit as well and a little booze. Taste is similarly sweet, with some dark fruit, spice, and lightly boozey finish. Mouth is sticky with light carbonation. Overall, really solid scotch, very nice.

Bottle from Beerlando in Secret Santa. Pours a nice ruby red/brown with a stiff tannish head. Nose is sweet, caramel, bread, earth and roast. On taste, Perfect soft carbonation with a big roasty malt note that couples well with the sweet bready notes. Pretty damn good stuff.

750 ml bottle from Suttree. Pour is dark burgundy, clear ruby and a firm, pretty three inch tan head. Thick chewy lacing left behind as the beer falls. This is a really nice looking beer. Aroma of earthy, grainy natural maltiness - just a hint of charred roastiness behind. After the beer opens, there is some vegetal green pepper that comes out, detracting a bit. Taste is the nose, earthy and malty, green pepper behind that, and finishing with the lingering charred roastiness. Nice transition of flavors, though not a ton of integration. Palate is medium, perhaps on the lighter side of Scotch Ale. Just a hint of alcohol, which made this a nice warmer. This was a good one. Thanks for sending this my way Phil.

Very rich aroma. Notes of caramel and toffee. The taste, however, is not super sweet. Nice roasted malts with a hint of smoke, and a nice rich mouthfeel.

A very nice color of red with brownish tints. Big flavor. You can really taste the scotch in this one.

750ml from Beerman I believe. Pours murky ruby brown with one finger tan head. Aroma is toffee, brown sugar, caramel, sweet malts, booze and some smokeyness. Flavor is sweet malts, toffee, caramel, smokey, some earthiness and some booze. Medium body and decent carbonation. Finishes sweet and smokey. Pretty solid scotch ale.

Bottle - thanks changeup415. Pours a rich chocolatey brown color with a small, creamy beige head. First sniff gets some breadiness, follwed by a little peat. Maybe a hint of rye? Taste is rich with an earthy and smokey maltiness. Lingering bits of peat and caramel. There is a little sweet before the smokey, ash, and peat thing, but I can’t put my finger on it... Nice mouthful, thick and coating. Finishes a bit dry and smokey.

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. The look is brown to red in color with a beige colored head. The smell is malts, sweet, scotch like, alcohol, and good. The taste is sweet, malts, good, and caramel.
