The alcohol is well hidden. Slightly roasted. Good, smooth palate and full mouthfeel. A well made beer that could use a little more complexity. FlssmrBrewAlum (1134), Lisle, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 4, 2009 750 ml shared at Flossmoor’s Oktoberfest. Pours a nice dark brown raisiny pour, red ad brown and near opaque, a good tannish head that dies to a thick film that laces, bubbly. Not bad looking. Aromas are a good dar fruit, cherry and raisin, with caramel and toffee malts with a creamy sweetness, a touch of peat, but dark fruit dominant over any peaty smoke, a touch of vanilla. Fairly sweet. Body is moderate, a good underlying sweetness, caramel and dark fruit, a bit syrupy and sweet in the finish and lingering on the palate, light bitterness, a touch of vanilla. Raisin, faint peat, roasty malts. A thicker, sweeter beer. Decent balance, a little big for me. A good candidate for Barrel Aging it seems, to kill a little thickness/sweetness. Not bad. A solid Scotch Ale overall. AmEricanbrew (1808), bankrupt socialistwelfare state, Washington DC, USA

Aroma is great, lots of burnt notes, toffee, vanilla, chocolate, and alcohol. Flavor is a great mix of dark and sweet chocolate, with lots of toffee notes as well. Some nice touches of sour cherry and caramel. Super rich, with a slight alcohol burn. I liked this one a lot. Another winner from Cigar City. beerchugger (295), Colorado, USA

Flavor delivers much of the same, caramel, some chocolate, a touch of vanilla, and the booze aspect. There were some definite sweet sugars coming through. angrypirate06 (721), Texas, USA
