Big Sound Scotch Ale is dedicated to our good buddy Gino, the most punk rock bagpiper you’ll ever meet, and the rest of the men and women of Tampa Bay Pipes and Drums. Brown in color, Big Sound has huge notes of dark sweet toffee with underlying mild notes of coffee in the aroma. The flavor starts with a slight note of cherry and then opens into a Goliath of a malt character with notes of dark sweet toffee, slight hints of coffee and mild notes of toasted bread in the finish. Big Sound Scotch Ale pairs well with Haggis, Highland Games, Huge Heads and Enormous Pillows and of course Bagpipe music.

Jag måste erkänna att jag hade otroligt svårt att tyda anteckningarn från den här ölen då jag var kraftigt berusad när jag drack den. Det jag kunde tyda lyder som följer; känsla av saison.

750 ml. bottle. Thanks Anthony! Pours dark brown with a tinge of red. Nice large foamy tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and fruit. Taste is caramel malt, roast, cherries, and a bit of smoke. Very nice.

1 pint, 9.4 fl oz bottle. Served in a snifter. Pours a cola/coffee color with almost no head. Big, malty, cola aroma. Taste is lightly toasty, sweet and syrupy with a finish reminiscent of sassafras. Unique and enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with small foamy tan head, bread aroma, sweet fruity taste with a hint of caramel, low carbonation, long finish. A bit too sweet for my taste.

Bottle. Pours opaque auburn with a foamy huge tan head. Aroma is dark toffee, caramelized sugar, cherry, plum, fig, red berries, overripe fruit, raisin, cedar, musty, candy, booze, sweet tobacco, hops, light leather. Taste is heavy sweet. Body is full, texture is sticky/creamy, carbonation is lively. Finishes sweet and warming. Sweetness can be nice, but this is way too cloying.

Bottle. Unclear dark red brown with a lasting tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is over ripe fruit, plums, figs, light cherries, light raisins, musty leather, cedar wood, caramel sugar. Taste is heavy sweet, light bitter. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation. Sweet and spicy finish. Lots of good stuff, but too sweet for my taste.

Thanks Tommy! This might be the best scotch ale i’ve ever tried. Aroma is terrific malt, with some caramel, dark fruit and bitter chocolate. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel with bit malt, some coffee, chocolate, and fruitiness. I sure love CCB.

750 ml from beernads. Deep brown with red hues and thick tan head. Nose of dark cherry, fig, nutty toasted malt, and a whisp of peat. Flavor is chocolate covered cherry with toasted malt, raisin, and toffee. Finishes lightly dry and fairly roasted. Prickly carbonation. Heavy palate presence.

Aroma is toffee, malts, fruit and a hint of sweetness. The flavor is fruit/berries, malts, medium to big sweetness and a tart finish. Although it didn’t mention it, this tasted almost like it was barrel aged. Overall a pretty good Scotch Ale.
