COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big Sound Scotch Ale is dedicated to our good buddy Gino, the most punk rock bagpiper you’ll ever meet, and the rest of the men and women of Tampa Bay Pipes and Drums. Brown in color, Big Sound has huge notes of dark sweet toffee with underlying mild notes of coffee in the aroma. The flavor starts with a slight note of cherry and then opens into a Goliath of a malt character with notes of dark sweet toffee, slight hints of coffee and mild notes of toasted bread in the finish. Big Sound Scotch Ale pairs well with Haggis, Highland Games, Huge Heads and Enormous Pillows and of course Bagpipe music.

Poured brown with small but foamy head. Very malty, lots of cereal flavor. Not my favorite style, but a pretty good beer to try.

Bottle from trade with Tricyclist. Dark brown pour, robust head, and good aroma of malt with strong hints of carmel. Taste is sweet malt with some figs. Very balanced, low complexity but interesting. It’s all about the malt with this, hops are barely noticeable. Finishes sweet. About the best in this style I’ve had.

Stearin.

750 ml. bottle. Thanks Anthony! Pours dark brown with a tinge of red. Nice large foamy tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and fruit. Taste is caramel malt, roast, cherries, and a bit of smoke. Very nice.

1 pint, 9.4 fl oz bottle. Served in a snifter. Pours a cola/coffee color with almost no head. Big, malty, cola aroma. Taste is lightly toasty, sweet and syrupy with a finish reminiscent of sassafras. Unique and enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with small foamy tan head, bread aroma, sweet fruity taste with a hint of caramel, low carbonation, long finish. A bit too sweet for my taste.

Bottle. Pours opaque auburn with a foamy huge tan head. Aroma is dark toffee, caramelized sugar, cherry, plum, fig, red berries, overripe fruit, raisin, cedar, musty, candy, booze, sweet tobacco, hops, light leather. Taste is heavy sweet. Body is full, texture is sticky/creamy, carbonation is lively. Finishes sweet and warming. Sweetness can be nice, but this is way too cloying.

SlackerMads (1547) - Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 2, 2013
Bottle. Unclear dark red brown with a lasting tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is over ripe fruit, plums, figs, light cherries, light raisins, musty leather, cedar wood, caramel sugar. Taste is heavy sweet, light bitter. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation. Sweet and spicy finish. Lots of good stuff, but too sweet for my taste.
