Wow. Bottle gift from SJ. Cinnamon, toast, caramel, cherry and toffee. All blended together with a nice alcohol bite. The brew finished sweet, but not overly.

750 ml bottle to taster (from notes). Looks good; brown with off-white lacing. Smells and tastes solid; semi-sweet and malty. Tastes like it smells with a good mouthfeel. A good example of the style.

Bottle shared by durwoodx. Thanks Darrell.
The beer appears a hazy brown hue with a small beige head. The aroma offers some candied fruit, malt, alcohol. Nice flavor. Slightly sweet, well balanced, mildly tannic. Really delicious. The flavor improves on the aroma. Delicious tannic quality. Medium bodied with ample carbonation. A solid beer from a great brewery. Recommended.

The aroma is primarily of sweet malts & cherries. The taste is very good. The malts are delicious. They are sweet but not too sweet. I taste a little yeast but the cherry flavor over powers the yeast in the finish. That balances things out and doesn?t make the Big Sound real bitter. I really enjoyed this drink. I would gladly have it again.

75cl Bottle at UDRBM. Dark brown colour, short-lived off-white head. Aroma is spicy and sweet, between the Huhnapus-spices and a bock, liquorice, alcohol. Flavour is sweet, malty, liqourice, laurel, dark fruits, alcohol and light coffee finish. Nice sipper. Medium-bodied, soft carbonation.

Black bodied, thin light lace. Nutmeg, cinnamon, soy sauce, cereal and licorice. Very nice taste, concentrated, fairly bitter but also a rich licorice sweetness. Nice. (UDRBM)

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml. bottle- Pours hazy dark brown to red with a one finger light tan head that reduces to a collar. Aroma is strong roasted malts, sweet caramel malt and toffee, ash. Taste is the same, chocolate and caramel malts, toffee, sweet malt blended with underlying hops that never totally present themselves, so smooth, like velvet going down the throat, alcohol is very well hidden. Body is full, carbonation is soft and low. Overall this was good, I wish there was a good smokey campfire taste and aroma to it, but it was still a treat.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 mL bottle. Dark brown, bubbly, and a large, tan head. The aroma is big peat notes, burnt oak, toffee, and salt. The flavor is sweet and malty, with a long, sticky and mildly bitter aftertaste. Fairly heavy body, malted and sticky. Overall, this is a good scotch ale, with massive malts and syrupy-sticky mouthfeel.
