3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Strange beer, but I really like it. I experience this mostly as an imperial stout. It’s got that sort of mouthfeel and roasty chocolate flavors. But the aroma is a little fruity and floral, and there’s just a hint of tartness. Hard to classify, but very enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared at the Big Friday Tasting, thanks again to LKS for showering us with yet more beer - not literally I hesitate to add, 03/01/14.
Dark mahogony brown with a good sized light tan covering.
Nose is light roasty notes, earthy, cocoa, toffee fudge, light spice.
Taste comprises dark toffee fudge, cocoa, earthy, cake mix, dark fruit, candided sugars, dark malts.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, touch of booze in the finish.
Ok drinkable affair but not too exciting and not enough depth for the ABV.

3rd January 2014
Mega Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Sri’s beau for this one. Opaque dark brown beer, big pale tan head. Palate is crisp. Caramel malt, light oxidised vibe. Light spice. Little dried fruits. Light dry finish. Was expecting more from this.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to leighton at the super-massive-mega tasting. It pours near black with a thick beige head. The nose is rich roast, toast, vanilla, ash, earth and liquorice. The taste is rich roasted malt, coffee, earth, toast, aniseed, vanilla, marshmallow, Rock Road and cocoa with sweetish finish. Medium+ body and fine, prickly carbonation. Smooth, tasty and rather drinkable.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared at the big tasting. Cheers Leighton, always love me a Cigar City. Pours black with a\not much of a head. Nose is roasty and nutty, hint of leather and liquorice. A little boring and one dimensional. Taste is caramel biscuit, nutty, liquorice. Just a little too straight forward. Leathery and ashy. Not really my kind beer

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
FROM NOTES: July 10, ’12
12 oz bottle poured into my The Alchemist pint glass (the only clean mug available ATM).
A: Lots of roast with accompanying dark chocolate and a little molasses. Smells sweet.
A: Pours a creamy black color with a heavy two-finger head that seems to hold very strongly.
T: Roasted grain followed by a caramel, candi sugar sweetness. Really interesting flavor profile, more notes of black licorice, coffee, toffee, and grassy hops. It finishes very bitter and sweet.
P: Medium bodied, excessive carbonation
O: I am not a huge fan of black licorice, in fact, I’ll just say I hate it. HOWEVER, it seems to take a backseat to the roasty and coffee flavor. This is yet another unique brew from CCB and worth the try.
