COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black Whole is a tribute to El Chupa Cobras, a math indie band from Montgomery, Alabama. This effort came about from our realization that craft beer and indie music have something in common… they both share about the same amount of their respectful markets and challenge the consumer. Wayne Wambles, our head brewer, and Kenny Johnson, the front man from El Chupa Cobras, played in indie bands together many years ago and this tribute is for all indie music fans and craft beer lovers. Black Whole is a multidimensional ale that takes many twists and turns similar to our daily lives. It has a big chocolate expression with moderate caramel notes, complex toasted to biscuit notes and hints of clove and black licorice. Don your chocolate mask and discover the meaning of life as you sip this complex, dark beer.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a huge brown head. The aroma has notes of straw, malt, alcohol, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, over ripe fruites, caramel, alcohol, and wood, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Papsoe (25094) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 30, 2012
Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours a reddish brown with a dissipating beige head. Dark, dried fruit and a little roast in the nose. Medium body, heavy carbonation, quite roasty with a slight tartness, a vanilla touch too. Not that hoppy. A somewhat odd brew, closest to a - somewhat twisted - Stout. 301112

Sample pour, deep and dark with a light head. Nose is roasted malt and sweet/bitter chocolate... sharp and bitter coffee... Flavor is oxidized... Sharp and loose all at once. Not well put together. Maybe this sample was a little too old.

Dogbrick (7243) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 5, 2012
This beer is a cloudy brownish-black color with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, licorice and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied with flavors of bready malt, anise and black coffee. The finish is roasty coffee up front with a sweet malt and molasses aftertaste. Interesting story behind this one, and above average overall.

Bottle shared by Dogbrick at Septoberfest V: Septoberfest Rises on 9/29/12. Pours a clear brown color with a thick tan head. Malty and sweet nose with some licorice notes. Malty flavor with dark chocolate and sweetness before a roasty finish.

Massive head black with dense tan head; strong earthy and wet dirt aromas; chocolaty imperial stout at first with and IPA type finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle thanks to Craig. Pours a dark brown color with a medium brown head. The aroma is sweet cherries and oak. A flavor of light coffee, roast, cocoa, licorice. Even some smoke. Very odd, hard to put down what it exactly is. Quite mellow despite a 8% bill.

Bottle from burg326, thanks Adam! Poured a deep brown almost black, with a huge head. Took me 5 min to pour the thing as every little bit caused massive foam. Chocolate, candy and bread all come through. Good not great, I would not seek out, but I would drink again in a heartbeat.

Bottled. Poured medium brown with a colossal, long-lasting beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter, toasted cocoa, nutty notes, and a hit of vanilla bean with airy detergent and funky accents.. looked and smelled like there was an infection going on. The flavor opened with bitter cocoa, tart oak, and warm black malts.. this skated through the middle of the palate, hitting some blended chocolates, cocoa, and licorice toward the back.. finished sour and a bit funky, with more of the aforementioned malts. Medium-bodied with out-of-control carbonation on the palate.. the flow made it hard to drink.. methinks this didn’t turn out as they intended.
