Cigar City Bolita Brown Double Nut Brown Ale

0.75l - Little head and light carbonation seemed to work for this. Light body unexpected given depth of color, but wasn’t short of cocoa and cherry notes on palate.

750ml bottle RSRIZZO"S 1/13/10 (Courtesy of jb43)-Poured a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate and brown sugar. Taste of roasted malt, caramel, and brown sugar. This was a nice tasting medium bodied brew but I was expecting more when I tried this due to the hype about this brewery.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Deep brown with a beige head. Aroma is mellow with hints of alcohol (vinous), prunes, berries, nuts. A bit sticky (brett?) flavor, reminds of "julmust". Medium bodied, soft carbonation.

Bottle shared with friends in Athens. Dark brown with a thin beige head. Very nice malt aroma and flavour, chocolate is very noticeable, with hints of caramel, toffee, and a nutty touch. Nice.

Bottle (purchased in January from Whole Foods Bowery NYC). Mild, slow gusher. Pours with a murky, deep brown body with a massive brown head that lasts. Aromas are nutty, oddly vinous, brown sugar, chocolate, alcohol. Definite brett character. Infected, but doesn’t smell very bad. Dark fruit, plums, mild alcohol. Flavors are nutty, roast, cocoa, very dry, chalky, mild brett. Peanut shells. Mildly astringent. Very earthy. Slightly vinous and sour. Very lively carbonation, dry, bitter. Not in top form; clearly infected (will re-rate given the opportunity). No bottled on date sadly.

A rich and creamy brown with an incredible puffy, fluffy head. Almost black in color with deep chocolate notes and balancing hop character.

6 mm beige-brown head, brown body. Nose: Nuts, licorice, coffee, prunes. Aroma: Nuts, vinous, raisins, coffee, chocolate, marshmallow, licorice-root and licorice. Semi-long ending with well-hidden alchohol.

Pours deep ruby brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, nuts and sweet dark fruits. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
