But not in a pretty way. Aroma has alcohol, actually the alcohol is coming off sour, weird. Too much alcohol on the nose. Flavor has a better rounded maltiness with nuts and some chocolate. However, the alcohol is getting in the way as well. Its not like a burning alcohol but a flavor killer and thinner. The alcohol is a bit too thinned out for me on this. The brown ale flavor are there but in combo with alcohol that messes it up for me.

Aroma has plenty of alcohol, it’s also a bit vegetal, and some nuttiness. Flavor is somewhat rich, nutty, chocolate, and not much else. BDR (2156), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

Smoke dominates the aroma with some roasted malts as well. Thick bodied and creamy, this is one smoky beer. Also some chocolate malt flavors can be detected. The label would lead you to believe this is a brown ale but it really is not. This site lists this as an American Strong Ale which is really pretty vague. But at least it isn’t listed as a brown ale. What it really is is delicious. Cigar City does it again. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

Nose is some caramel, nuts and a hint of earth. Flavor is wonderful! Some not so subdued notes of nuts, a hint of toffee, and maybe....just maybe a background of mild coffee. It seems to sweeten up a bit from the time it hits the lips until the time it travels down to the belly. As this warms up a bit any subdued flavors really start to pull through. I start to notice a hint of chocolate...maybe a bit of ash as well. Very solid beer. gottalottaibu (243), charlotte, North Carolina, USA
