Commercial Description:
Bolita was a type of lottery popular with the working class citizens of the Ybor City district of Tampa. Bolita means, ’little ball’ but profits from the illegal (and often rigged) game were anything but little. In the 1920’s Tampa native Charlie Wall was the undisputed kingpin of the Bolita racket.

Our Bolita is a Double Northern English-style brown ale that has a complex malt forward character with notes of chocolate, toffee and hints of roasted nuts in the finish. Bolita pairs well with Baklava, Big Band Music, Cool Evenings and robust cigars.

From bottle, RBSG08. Pours brown with a creamy off-white head. Dense malty and slight spiced aroma. Fruity and dense malty yet with a light yeasty touch in the flavour. Smooth yet also quite roasted and slight spiced.

Bottle… RBSG 08This beer rocks!... Pours very dark with burnt orange highlights (when held up to light) with a small, creamy, beige head. Good retention. The aroma is swimming in sweet, rich notes of toffee, toasted nuts and chocolate with a gentle note of buttery diacetyl (which compliments rather than contaminates). Medium to full-bodied and silky with soft carbonation. Malty, hearty and sweet, as it should be, but not cloyingly so - not by a long shot. Finishes malty and sweet with a hint of butterscotch. World class offering!

Bottle at Rattle N Hum. Dark brown pour. The nose is absolutely lovely. Intense chewy nose. Lots of sweet dark malts with a heavy cocoa character dominating. Chocolate and a touch of herbal tobacco character that really works well in here. Quite malty with a nice sweet toffeeish character in the middle. Intense but approachable with a bit of cedary woodiness as well. A little bit of grainy spice adds yet another layer of complexity. Really, lovely tasty stuff.
