3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at the house. Nose is roasted malts, cocoa powder, light coffee, smoke, ash, burnt toast, a hint of soy sauce. Pours a nice oily black with a huge khaki head. Flavor is roasted malts, lactose sweetness, dirt, iron, cocoa, ash. It’s pretty good. I think this thing has a ton of flavors for the lower abv. Complex and drinkable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
750mL bottle courtesy of Homer321. It pours with a nice dark body that supports a booming head of dark mocha colored foam. It looks this had some residual yeast in the bottle and became somewhat over carbonated. The aroma offers up baker’s chocolate, chocolate candy bar, malty sweetness and dark roasted coffee. The taste is rich and smooth (albeit a bit prickly with over carbonation) where I get a pleasing load of chocolatey goodness flowing into a mix of dark roasted malts and espresso. It gets a touch tannic and minerally here and there but that’s just off in the background. The malty sweetness conspires with the roastiness and the chocolate to create an enjoyable flavor. This should be about a 3.0 but it is getting the “homer” bump.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Not a horrible effort but it kind of misses the mark. A bit thin and not as much flavor as I was hoping for.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle - Dark chocolate, sweet chocolate syrup and a a bit of roast. Jet black with a brown head. Dark chocolate with a nice sweetness, quickly followed by a bitter almost burnt hit that fades quickly. Very nice and chocolaty with a light bitter and hoppy finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Courtesy of Kraddel. Thanks! 750 ml. bottle split by 2 @ Barely legal tasting room. Pours black with a huge tanned head. Smells lactic with fermenting red grapes, milky, brown sugar, this doesn’t feel right to me. Tastes lactic with vanilla sugar, fermenting red grapes, sweet chocolate mouse, fermenting, roasted coffee. This feels partially nice & partially something seems really off here. Body feels like 6 % ABV. Mmmm, not sure if this is supposed to taste like this.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Batch 1) Draft... This beer rocks!… Pitch black pour with a creamy, mid-sized, beige head. The aromatic highlights are blackberries, blueberries, burnt mocha and caramel. Full-bodied and creamy with tingly carbonation. The flavor furnishes a boatload of deep-roasted, acrid espresso, accompanied by an equally huge component of dark chocolate. Finishes burnt and carbonic, followed by a kiss of caramel. World class effort from the boys at the Brewpub!
