had a few times before, never really got into it .. prune juice, mild foam .. . mild mannered mouth .. light chewy raisins and plum toffee .. a rather muted barleywine .. . .the proper form of address for Australians: "For Christís sake, not in the sink".

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Feel: medium body; good carbonation; a bit hot.
Plenty of dark soaked fruits in the nose.
O: decent, but poorly hidden alcohol. Would probably benefit from aging.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted during RBWG grand tasting. 12oz can. Hazy brown red color. Thin ring of off-white head. Nice earthy hoppy aroma, english toasty biscuity bready malt. Moderate sweet taste, bigger bitter. Alcohol works well. Bigger body. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Dry finish. This stuff is awesome. Great balanced barleywine.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured from a can into snifter. Pours a very dark brown/almost black. Moderate head. Strong hoppy aroma with some fruit (pineapple?) mixed in. I would not quite call this a barleywine. Though I'm not sure what I would call it. It's quite hoppy, yet also has the roastiness of a porter. Lurking behind all of that is the toffee chewiness of a barleywine. Its all quite interesting and complex, but not as harmonious as I would like. The mouthfeel is a bit rough around the edges too. I would love to try this after some aging.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can as a trade extra. Thanks! Pours insanely thick from the can, dark brown amber, with a big creamy khaki head. Big brown sugar aroma, lots of figs, sweet toffee maltiness, and some hay. Flavor is sweet toffee and biscuity malts, some brown sugar and figs, light grassy hop notes, very sweet and rich. Huge body here as expected from
CCB. Not mind blowing by any means but solid and rich, and my first canned barleywine.
