UPDATED: APR 4, 2011 Re-Rate (5 month old bottle). Bottle...Long awaited...Aroma is chocolate, cherries, plums, espresso, and brown sugar. Pours BLACK with a big brown head and alot of fizzy carbonation...Flavor is a blast of chillies, chocolate, plums, cherries, alcohol, wood, and coffee...Medium mouthfeel, alot of nice heat and quite fizzy. This beer is awesome...totally lived up to the hype. Damn near perfect. (Correction: PERFECT)...I feel bad for the people who either didnt drink this beer at the right time...or got stuck with infected bottle.

Big big thanks to Phil for sharing some of this with me. The aroma was big and robust with flavors of chocolate, vanilla, spice, caramel. As the beer warms up you really get the up front, knock you in the face aroma of everything. The taste was probably the smoothest CCB I’ve had. Sat very well on my tongue with a good amount of carbonation. I could taste it 5 minutes after my first sip, needless to say it was heavenly.

This beer is awesome. opens with cocoa scent and pours a dark black with a excellent thick brown head. I had a refreshing spicy chili pepper flavor with chocolate, cherries, and alcohol shining through. Spicy in the mouth with a medium mouth feel. Decent warming feeling. one if not the best beer i have had

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 kiefdog (1826) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JUL 7, 2010
Bottle from Knightly Spirits (Orlando, FL). Pours a deep, dark menacing black color with a creamy dark tan head that settles slowly. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of ripe dark fruits, bourbon, oak, vanilla, caramel, toffee, sweety goodness. Flavor is more of the same with some stronger bourbon notes, vanilla, and a lightly smoky note. Full body with a pleasing boozy finish. Wish there was more of this beer to go around.

bottle number 167 thanks to Cheeseman! You rule! Pours opaque black with a medium tan head. Aroma is all over the place. Complex as hell, obvious apple brandy, wet wood, fruity yeast, coffee and cocoa nibs. Flavor is semi-sweet red berries with a strong barrel presence and lingering coffee in the finish. Silky smooth mouth-feel. Really tons going on here, but everything complements and there are no dominate flavors overpowering the next. Kudos Cigar City!
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 PhillyCraft (606) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 28, 2012
Old rating. Bottle # 164 of 204 produced. Pours jet black with huge brownish head with multiple layers of froth. Sticky palate, strong aromas of scotch, brownie, sour wood, caramel, tofee, sticky candy sugar. Taste is chocolate, roasted malts, buttercream icing, coffee beans, dark chocolate. This is honestly a perfect beer for a cold winter night next to a fire. Tons of warming qualities, a rich beer and a true rarity from the Tampa brewers.

Rating #9 of this brew -- big thanks to daknole for sharing. Live rate! Pours a roasted coffee color with a thick brown head that leaves plenty of lacing. Rough looking chunks of unfiltered goodness and barrel sludge in this one. Smells great -- loaded with raspberries, cookie dough, cocoa, and vanilla. Tastes of each with added notes of raisin, caramel, lactose. Beeter than the first. Quality.
