Entering old rates, Nov. 2008. 12oz bottle. Thanks to Tony at OTH.

12 oz bottle courtesy JdubFL at the RBWG. Thanks for cracking this open Justin! This one pours a dark mahogany color and topped by a small, foamy tan colored head that settles slowly to a thin film. The aroma is really nice and complex and based in rich dark and milk chocolates, rich caramel, and toasted nuts. Roasted coffee, smooth oak laden vanilla, and some earthy smoke from the Der Rauch Gott lend further depth and complexity to the aroma. The flavor follows suit and is based again the rich dark and milk chocolate, toasted nuts, and caramel. The roasted coffee and meaty smoke add further depth while some earthy hops lend balancing bitterness. All the flavors just meld together so well with just a hint of warmth from the alcohol. Nearly full bodied, smooth with fine carbonation that leads to a lengthy smoky and dry finish. This is an awesome beer that I am really glad to have tried. I just wish I could have had more.

bottle sampled at RBWG, pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is boozy with smoke and roasted coffee notes. Flavor is complex as hell, coffee, roasted malt, smoked malt, and earthy vanilla and wood notes. Awesome.

Thanks to jdub for hooking me up with this in person RBWG. Pours a black body with a tan off white head. Roast y chocolate malt tones, a dry bitter coffee with a light smoked malt tone. Smoked cedar, mild roasted coffee and a a mild warming. Awesome.

Bottle at RBWG courtesy of jdub. Poured near black with a thin tan head. Notes of wood, chocolate, smoke, and toasted malt. Mostly full body with ample carbonation and a smooth mouth feel. I got big notes of chocolate, roasted malt, and wood up front, mid way I started getting more smokey nutty flavors which lead into to a slightly dry toasted finish.

12oz bottle thanks to jdub at RBWG. This one is monstrous but it just didn’t hit me the same was as the 110k Batch 1. Lots of roast on the nose with some hazelnut and chocolate with a spicy cedar note and whiffs of smoke. Flavor starts off with smokey roasted malt and caramel. Nice nutty character with some sweet chocolate and caramel malts to round things off. Finishes with some bitter espresso and a hint of smoke but it lacks the creamy intensity of the 110k. Amazing still.

jdub, you are awesome. Thanks for opening this Justin. Pours a nice dark brown, tan head. Smoky aroma with some chocolate, roast and caramel. Hardly any oxidation, lots of smoke and chocolate. Fruity on the end. Really a delicious beer!

HUGE thanks to Justin for this one! Poured black. Nose was dominated by Der Rauch Gott. Good amount of smoke, roated malts, earthy hops, mild oxidation, sweet caramel and molasses. Very nice blend.

Sampled at CCB. Pours a very deep dark woody mahagany brownish almost verging on black with a nice lasting tight head. Aroma is nice woody smoke, with roast and chocolate malts, light woodyiness, wet hairy dog earthiness, big chocolate and wierd puppys breath type notes, and a huge sweet nutty chocolate tootsie roll from the Bolita- everything is in here, pretty big, but nothing overpowering the others. Flavors are also woody, smokey, lightly hoppy, huge big toasted brown malts, some caramel, tons of chocolate, and some woody cedar notes and hints of leather. I really liked this one.

12oz bottle from the man himself tpd975. Drank out of my DFH Snifter on the eve of an important day, and I wanted to drink something special. Pours much like an Imperial STout, black with a light brown head. Nose is quite smoky and rich. Taste is sweet, smoky, rich, with wood, and cedar and damn this is tasty and all in all a big f’ing beer.
